Group Act.
Group Act.
Group 2; We draw a card from a deck of 52 cards. Let E1 be the event that the card is
a King. Let E2 be the event that the card is a Queen. Let E3 be the event that the card
is a spade. Make a diagram and find the probability of the following.
a. Are E1 and E2 mutually exclusive? If yes, find the probability union.
b. Are E2 and E3 mutually exclusive? If yes, find the probability union.
c. Are E3 and E1 mutually exclusive? If yes, find the probability union.
Group 3: We reconsider the example of a roll of a die. Suppose we roll a six-sided die.
Let E1=Outcome is Even, E2=Outcome is Odd, and E3=Outcome is Prime number
greater than 2. Draw a Venn diagram corresponding to these three events and identify
mutually exclusive events.
a. Are E1 and E2 mutually exclusive? If yes, find the probability union.
b. Are E2 and E3 mutually exclusive? If yes, find the probability union.
c. Are E3 and E1 mutually exclusive? If yes, find the probability union.
Group 5: Suppose we have a bucket that contains 3 Black balls, 7 Red balls and 5
Green balls. We randomly draw balls from the bucket. Let E1 be the ball is green,
E2 be the ball is Red, and E3 be the Black balls. Make a diagram and identify mutually
exclusive events and answer the following questions:
a. What is the probability of E3 OR E2?
b. What is the probability of E1 OR E2?
c. What is the probability of E1 OR E3?
