The portfolio will comprise several separate tasks based around a chosen case study and
an appendix of 2 tasks.
Students will consider a particular case study and will present a summary of the key
health and care issues for their group/individual.
The student must then draw on their knowledge of biological, social, and psychological
factors and explain the needs of the service users and how to enhance positive ageing.

Please consider the learning outcomes that you need to cover in your work.

Evaluate and consider the impact of psychological, social and political


1  influences, and differing attitudes to ageing on health and social care for older
populations across different societies and cultures. 
2  Demonstrate understanding of the biology and psychology of ageing, with
particular reference to metabolic, cardiovascular, brain and mobility
impairments.  
3  Critically examine factors affecting successful ageing. 
Apply knowledge and understanding of factors influencing positive ageing to

specific age-related case studies spanning the health and social care discipline. 

The Portfolio will be based on a series of tasks, linked to your chosen case study.
The focus will be on the biopsychosocial needs of the service user and how to enhance
positive ageing.
You will be presented with 5 different case studies; you need to select one to be the focus
of the portfolio.
You need to approach the portfolio from the perspective of the biopsychosocial model of
holistic health and wellbeing assessment and planning, with an emphasis on person-
centred care.
Remember this is Level 6 and you are required to critically engage with and analysis the
theories and literature relevant to your chosen case study.
