This document provides assessment criteria for analyzing sources at different levels from 1 to 5.
Level 3 analysis requires making supported inferences about the overall message of the source and comparing how sources agree or disagree on some details.
Level 4 analysis requires cross-referencing other sources to explain unexpected aspects of a source and analyzing a source's usefulness or reliability based on its purpose and context.
The highest level of analysis at Level 5 requires making a well-supported evaluation of a source's reliability based on its purpose and context through cross-referencing other knowledge or sources.
