Programming assignment

Students are to choose a song under 2 minutes in length and will be designing a
light show to match. Students will use the free ETC EOS software to program their show
at home with skills learned in class. They will have available to them the repertory light
plot, the magic sheet for the mainstage and can choose to stay after school to work with
the actual lights themselves.

Students are to artistically analyze their song, putting no fewer than 5 light cues
into their show that reflect the mood changes of the song. To do this, the color and
angle of the lights onstage should change between cues and the timing and speed of
the cues should fit the moment.

There will be several props set onto the stage for the performance to better
highlight the directions and color of lights.

You will be graded on:


● At least 5 cues
● The timing of the cues
● How accurately your cues reflect the song.
● A brief explanation for your decisions

Song choices must be school appropriate.

The software can be found for free by searching “ETC Nomad Software” and
downloading it from the software page of the ETC website. Or it can be found directly
linked at the class website.
