Year 7 will pray in form rooms.

FASTING IN RELIGION
How vigilant are you? Do you read what is displayed around the school? Do you notice when
something has changed on the display boards?
With Easter/ Lent & Ramadan coming close it is time to brush up your knowledge on which
religions fast. How different religions fast & why?
Around the school & on the hall walls there are posters giving information about fasting in
different religions.  Take a little time as you pass to pick up some information with your
friends.

The following learners have shown an interest in helping out at the community event on
Saturday 12th March. If you are still interested in helping out please can you come for a
meeting with Mrs Badat in the Mill Hall on Monday 28th February 2022 break time.

After the success our school and students have achieved in the previous competitions
organised by the AHS, the Arabic honor society based in the USA and the QFI, the Qatar
foundation international.
A good opportunity now to show our talent in their new competition of 2022 in writing
poems in Arabic, as simple as you can, within the category of non-heritage students for
most of you and the heritage students for a few of you.
Read the attachment which has been emailed to you carefully and adhere to the deadline.
I would really like to see many participants from our school.
Please let me know when you participate so i keep a record of participants with me and do
not hesitate to ask me if you would like to clarify any of the competition requirements.
Thank you. Mrs Mohamed

British Science week

For year 7-11

The theme for British Science Week 2022 poster competition is ‘Growth’.
Competition The deadline for entering the competition is 5pm on the 15 April 2022. The link to submit

your entry and details on the prizes on offer will be available soon. Your poster could

explore a tadpole’s journey into a fully grown adult frog, or look at the ways population growth

is affecting the planet. For inspiration on poster ideas, check out the 2021 winners here!
How will the posters be judged?
We wish that everyone could be a winner, but we only have a limited number of prizes. So,

here’s the lowdown on what the judges will be looking for:

 Creativity in approach – Innovative angle on the content or creative interpretation of
the theme
 Content – Clear, accurate and informative about a STEM topic
 Effective communication – presented and communicated in an engaging way

Members of the British Science Association will shortlist entries, and a panel of judges will

select a winner in each category. The two runners up in each category will be uploaded to our

Facebook page and the public will decide on a fifth ‘popular vote’ winner.

NEXT THURSDAY 3RD MARCH IS WORLD BOOK DAY

WHY DON’T YOU Get Creative with a STORY CHARACTER BEDROOM DESIGN?
Bedrooms reflect a person’s personality – through the colours, decor, bedding and
other items.

For World Book Day we are running a competition to design a bedroom for your
favourite book character. You can use drawings, cut pictures out of magazines, use
fabric or other materials, glitter etc. You must name your character and why you have
chosen your particular design. Try to link this to the book they appear in and their
distinct personality.
This activity can also be done on computer if you prefer.
Please hand in (or send) to Mrs Heppleston in the library by THURSDAY 3 rd MARCH
Winners will be announced on FRIDAY 4TH MARCH.
Good Luck!
