AGENCY
Disaster Prevention & Department of Science Responsibility:
Mitigation and Technology (DOST) • provides key strategic actions to
activities revolving around hazards
assessment and mitigation, risk
assessments, recognition of hazard-
prone areas and mainstreaming
DRRM into development plans.
• Underlines the importance of
conducting a thorough and scientific
examination of the underlying
vulnerabilities, threats, and
exposure to hazards and disasters.
Goal:
• To prevent hazards and mitigate
their possible consequences by
reducing vulnerabilities and
increasing community ability.
Objectives:
• To minimize community
vulnerability and exposure to all
hazards
• To improve communities' ability
to reduce their own risks and deal
with the effects of all hazards
Disaster Preparedness Department of Interior Responsibility:
and Local Government • Provides for important strategic
(DILG) actions such as community
awareness and understanding,
contingency planning, local drills,
and the creation of a national
disaster response plan.
Goal:
• To build and strengthen
community capacity to anticipate,
cope with, and recover from the
negative effects of emergency
situations and disasters.
Objectives:
• To raise community consciousness
of the dangers and consequences of
all hazards, risks, and
vulnerabilities.
• To provide the community with
the tools it needs to deal with the
aftermath of a disaster.
Institutional capability should be
increased.
•Comprehensive national and local
disaster preparedness strategies,
plans, and processes must be
developed and implemented.
• To improve collaboration between
all players and stakeholders.
Objectives:
• To reduce the number of
preventable deaths and injuries
•To provide basic subsistence needs
of affected population.
• To restore immediately the basic
social services.
Goal:
• In line with the "build back better"
philosophy, rebuild and enhance
infrastructure, livelihood and living
standards, and organizational
capacities of impacted communities,
as well as reduce disaster risks.
Objective:
• Restoring people's livelihoods and
the continuity of economic activities
and business
• Restoring shelter and other
structures/installations
•Rebuilding infrastructure and
other public services.
• To aid in the physical and
psychological recovery of people
who have been affected by disasters.
