Dischargi.ng ink is recommended only when disconnecting the Ink Supply Tank Tube
Assy from the Ink Supply Tank. Before performing the above disconnection, discharge
ink from the Ink Supply Tank as follows.
• Necessary tools
• Containers (x 6) for each discharged ink

4.1.7 Protection for Transportation


Before packing the printer for returning it to the user, secure it at the specified points
with strong tape to avoid damaging the printer or ink leakage dur ing transport, and
make sure to check the points as foUows.

Secure the following parts with strong tape.
• Securing the Carriage Unit
Prepare a piece of strong tape (length: 140 ± 2 mm, width: 22 mm).
I. Confi rm that the Carriage Unit is locked in the home position.
2. Put Pad Carriage on the Carriage.
3. Attach the unfolded end of strong tape (fold the other end back 5 mm) on the
left side of the Carriage.
4. Pull the tape toward the right side of the housing and attach it tightly along the
shapes of the housing as shown in Fig. 4- 12 to secure the Carriage Unit.

Upper Housing I Panel Unit I MIB Cover
This section describes the disassembly/reassembly procedures
of the Main Board Unit for L850 series/L810 series. 0 Removal procedure
When removing or instamng the Main Board Unit, the Middle l. Disconnect the following cables from the connector on the Main Board.
Housing may bend by applying the force using the screwdriver,
and it may cause of stress whitening around the screw holes
and positioning holes of the Card Slot Cover.
To prevent this from happening, insert the Ink Cartridges (x2)

4.4.12 Upper Paper Guides D Removal procedure


1. Remove torsion springs (x3) at the rear of the printer.
The Upper Paper Guides are connected as a single unit with thin


fragile bridges as shown with arrows below. However, these parts
are not to be placed on the shaft holders of the printer frame.
Therefore, it is not necessary to replace the Upper Paper Guides
even if the bridges are broken.

Remove the Cable Holder Frame. (See Figure 4-98.)

3. Check that the APG Uni t and the carriage are in the PG-position. (See Figure
5- 15.)

on the left aligning its left edge with the second rib of the Front Paper Guide. And
place aoother 1. J 5 mm thickness gauge on the right aligning its right edge with the

NOTE: The thickness gauge must not be set over the leftmost rib on the Front
Paper Guide.

5. Pull the Timing Belt to move the carriage to the left end.
6. If the carriage comes in contact with the gauge, adjust the Left Parallelism Bush to
raise the carriage to a position where the Printhead does not come in contact with
