 CHALLENGES FACED

• PSTN modem used in beginning at consumer end led to

failure and telephone wires connected got damaged.
• Lot of GSM modems initially procured got faulty due to
poor design.
• In meters which had metallic meter boxes attenuate signal

to very large extent and hence communication was not

possible.
• Regular maintenance of faulty modems is required for
initial period.
• Meter manufacturers were not willing to share their
protocols.
• Initially Communication success rate of APIs’ was very
low.
