PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Memorial of St. Maria Goretti, Virgin and Martyr

Fr. Dave: The Gospel invites us into an intimate relationship with Jesus despite our
sinfulness. We now turn in prayer to God for the grace to be one with Christ’s call
for repentance. In every petition, let us say:

LORD, GRACIOUSLY HEAR US

1. For Pope Francis, the bishops, and the clergy, may their lives be an unending instrument
of bringing God’s message and forgiveness to all the faithful. Let us pray to the Lord.

2. For all the government officials, may they create laws that reflect a concern for the
common good and protect the rights of every person. Let us pray to the Lord.

3. For our community, may we become steadfast in our resolve to denounce Satan and all
his works. In a special way, we pray for the fruitful retreat of Rev. Fr. John Barro and the
clergy of Archdiocese of Manila and for the safety of Rev. Fr. Richard James Babao as he
attends the conference in Strasbourg. Let us pray to the Lord.

4. For the sick and those who are suffering, may they have restored strength in body and
spirit amidst their present difficulties. Let us pray to the Lord.

5. For our faithful departed, may they enjoy the peace of God’s eternal promise. Let us
pray to the Lord.

6. In the silence of our hearts, let us pray for our personal intentions (pause). Let us pray to
the Lord.

Fr. Dave: Almighty Father, in Your great love for us,

You have forgiven our sins
and made Yourself our constant Helper.
Through the intercession of St. Maria Goretti,
may we always rejoice in your care
and strengthen our faith.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
