In the Philippines, several educational curricula have been implemented over the years,
each with their own set of objectives and approaches. These include the SEDP (Social Economic
Development Program), BEC (Basic Education Curriculum), RBEC (Revised Basic Education
Curriculum), and K-12 (Kindergarten to Grade 12) Curriculum. Each curriculum aims to provide
a quality education to Filipino learners and prepare them for their future endeavors.

SEDP (Social Economic Development Program) Curriculum: The SEDP was implemented
from 1972 to 1981, during the Marcos administration. It was a ten-year development plan that
aimed to address the country's economic and social problems by prioritizing education. The
SEDP curriculum emphasized technical and vocational education to prepare students for the
workforce. It included subjects such as agriculture, home economics, and industrial arts.

BEC (Basic Education Curriculum): The BEC was implemented in 2002, replacing the
SEDP. It aimed to provide learners with a strong foundation in basic education by focusing on
the development of their essential skills, knowledge, and values. The BEC curriculum had a
broad range of subjects, including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Filipino, and Values
Education.

RBEC (Revised Basic Education Curriculum): The RBEC was introduced in 2009, replacing
the BEC. It aimed to enhance the quality of basic education in the Philippines by providing a
more learner-centered approach. The RBEC curriculum included the same subjects as the BEC,
but with a greater emphasis on student-centered learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving
skills.

K-12 (Kindergarten to Grade 12) Curriculum: The K-12 Curriculum was implemented in
2013, adding two years of senior high school to the previous ten-year basic education program.
The K-12 curriculum aimed to provide learners with a more comprehensive education that
prepares them for their chosen career paths. It included subjects such as academic, technical-
vocational, and specialized tracks to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.

In conclusion, the SEDP, BEC, RBEC, and K-12 Curricula are all part of the Philippine
government's efforts to provide quality education to all Filipino learners. Each curriculum has its
own set of objectives and approaches, aiming to improve the quality of education in the
country. While each curriculum builds on the previous one, they differ in their approach,
content, and emphasis. The K-12 Curriculum is the most comprehensive and recent curriculum,
providing students with more opportunities and preparation for their future endeavors.
