TOPIC TITLE: Products Based on Needs and Demands in School and community

Performance of Philippine FMCG products in 2018

How do you know what
products are needed in
school and the community?

How do you know which are

in demand?

The answer to these question is research. Entrepreneurs refer to refer to research conducted by market
research. Entrepreneurs refer to research conducted by market researchers who monitor, analyze, and publish their
findings.
For an update of the Philippines’s fast moving consumer good (FMCG) market from year 2018, Kantar
World panel presented their findings:
The FMCG categories are identified according to their ranks: food (69% local), beverage (38%), Personal
Care (16%), Home Care (25%).
A diligent entrepreneur will study these data (past and present), consider the trend forecast, and choose
the best product to sell and the best place to sell it.
Products for school are considered seasonal. Peak sale is from May to first
week of notebooks, pad papers, pencils, pens, crayons, bags and uniforms.
The Department of Trade and Industry’s Consumer Protection and Advocacy
Bureau (DTI-CPAB) annually releases price guide shows suggested retailers and
consumers (students and their parents). The advisory guide shows suggested retail prices
(SRPs) issued by manufacturers to ensure market share and fair competition in the
market. This is published on the month of May in selected newspapers and tabloids and
downloadable from the DTI website.
Get the pulse from Divisoria, the cheapest place to buy school
supplies, or to leading bookstore nationwide. A visit on these
marketplaces will give you ideas on the latest cartoon or popular
characters, the trending color, and most up-to-date design featured on
school products to make them more attractive to students. By
interviewing the sales people or surveying the stores cases, you can be
informed which items are bestsellers.
