Structure of a Musical Sound

The term musical form refers to the overall structure or plan of a piece
of music. It describes the layout of composition as divided into sections like
motif (first four notes of the song), phrase (a group of motives), and periods
(group of phrases).
A composer plans or designs a musical piece. He makes music more
organized, orderly, and easy to understand.
A phrase is a unit of musical thought. It does not have a complete
musical sense of its own. Just like when you stop singing in the middle of a
song. It sounds incomplete and needs to be followed up by something more.
There are two types of phrases that relate to one another: antecedent and
consequent phrase.
An antecedent phrase ends on a note that feels unfinished. It is
sometimes called the “question phrase”. A consequent phrase is the “answer phrase”. It is where we hear the
ending or resolution of the antecedent phrase. Oftentimes, they are referred to as “question and answer phrases”.

Introduction and CODA

Aside from musical phrases, there are other parts that enhance the beauty of a musical composition. These
are the introduction and the coda.
The introduction is a unique section found at the beginning of a piece. It is a passage, section, or a separate
piece which opens a movement. It is often abbreviated as intro.
The introduction establishes the melodic, harmonic, and/or rhythmic material related to the main body of a
piece. An introduction simply contains music with no words and usually builds up suspense for the listener to
anticipate a release or surprise.

Look at the musical piece. The encircled part is

the short introduction of the song before it starts.

The coda is a concluding passage of a musical composition. It is represented by the symbol which resembles
a set of crosshairs . It is added to musical piece that serves to round out, conclude, or summarize and comes
together with the dal segno sign (D.S al Coda)
