Answers:

1. Earth Science, or Earth Sciences, according to “The Penguin Dictionary of Science,” are
the sciences concerned with the study of the Earth, including Geology (Geophysics and
Geochemistry), Geography, Meteorology, and Oceanography.
2. The five systems of the Earth are the geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere,
and atmosphere.
Geosphere
Geosphere refers to the solid parts of the Earth. The rocks, landforms, the crust,
Earth’s solid interior structure, and the minerals within it belong to the
Geosphere.
Biosphere
Biosphere refers to the parts of the Earth where life exists and is evident. Also
called as the Ecosphere, the Biosphere covers up the different lifeforms from
different types of environments in different parts of the Earth. It spans from the
deep, dark ocean environments up to the different types of biomes in land.
Cryosphere
Cryosphere refers to the parts of the Earth where the bodies of water are
frozen, mostly located near the poles of the Earth.
