OJT WEEK 3

Another memorable experience happened in this week. We have a lot of duties, travels,
and challenges that made our training productive. As a continuation of our task from the past few
weeks, we did different actual estimation of materials to be used in the project. The bar counting,
actual monitoring in site specifically the installation of steel deck, preparation of scaffolding and
stirrups investigation. Also, we witnessed the electrical and glass installation in some part of the
building construction.

The next day of our duty was the best part of the weekly training thus, we went to
Tacurong for bidding process of Water District project, the drilling of 96 meters hole for the
preparation of installing the pipe. We encountered different contractors there and having some
conversations with regards their experiences and challenges in the actual construction. One of the
contractors there shared his experience that being a contractor is not easy. He already sells some
of his agricultural farms for them to sustain and provide enough salary for their labors. They
suffered a deficit in some matters due to the changing of project holders.

Overall, this week is such a great time that gives a lot of learnings and inspired us as a
student trainee. Special thanks to our big boss (Project Engineer, Engr. Reyndel Diolaso).
