Introduction

Training offering Summer 2023 includes all types of training, internal, external and competitions, in
addition, students still have the chance to provide individual training opportunities via private
contacts, subject to be approved by their academic advisors and corresponding program
coordinators.

Training offering is covering competences assigned by every single program in the architecture track.
This offering is divided into two sections, the first is a brief of all opportunities, and then a compiled
detailed programs and flyers for each.

Objectives of the Practical Field Training:

1. Enhancing the experiences of the faculty students by linking academia in the classroom with
real practical situations in the work environment.
2. Supporting the opportunity for students to discover their professional interests in the field
of their academic specialization.
3. Emphasizing the effectiveness of practical field training in preparing graduates for better
practical future.
4. Providing the opportunity to acquire new skills of innovative thinking for problem solving
and making practical decisions with confidence.

The following table is the basic information of the practical field training mentioned in 2018 bylaw in
“Part E Course Pool” (p.177):

Course Content
The major objective of this field training is to put knowledge and skills into practice. It provides
students with the necessary skills to work in his engineering specialization. For a sufficient
understanding of technical and economic lectures and tutorials as well as a preparation for future
work, internships in companies are essential. The field training is one of the substantial
preconditions for a successful course of study and it forms an important part of the education.
The students should gain insights into engineering practice, knowledge of field relevant aspects of
their studies. The trainees should particularly show interest in professional structures within the
company. The verification of carrying out the internship according to the guidelines takes place
after the start of training.

“Branding Saida”
An open canvas for urban regeneration solutions
AND
Discovering Beirut after the blast of August 2020

Overview:
Saida, a city with a rich cultural and historical heritage, possesses immense
potential for branding and showcasing its captivating landscape and heritage. A
scientific approach to highlighting these aspects can greatly contribute to the city's
branding efforts. By conducting thorough landscape assessments and heritage
surveys, comprehensive data can be gathered to identify unique features, such as
the city's coastal location, architectural landmarks, and archaeological sites.
Working on Saida's branding offers architecture and landscape students a
remarkable opportunity to engage with a city that boasts a wealth of historical and
natural assets. It allows them to contribute their expertise, gain practical
experience, and make a meaningful impact while exploring the rich cultural
heritage of Saida and shaping its future.
Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, is a vibrant city that encapsulates the essence of
the country. With a population of over 2 million people, it serves as the political,
cultural, and economic hub of the nation. Renowned for its rich history, Beirut is a
treasure trove of diverse civilizations. From its Phoenician roots to Roman,
Byzantine, and Ottoman influences, the city bears the marks of centuries past. It
boasts a plethora of iconic landmarks, including the National Museum, Beirut
Corniche, Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque, and the reconstructed Beirut Souks.
Beirut's history of resilience and regeneration, most notably demonstrated after the
devastating 2020 blast, has solidified its status as a beacon of hope and a testament
to the strength of its people. The city has undergone significant reconstruction
efforts, and many landmarks and attractions have been restored or are in the
process of being rebuilt.
The Summer School will take place in two cities: Saida and Beirut; the first five days
of the Summer School – main workshop activities - in Saida, then moving to Beirut
for the rest of the duration, as shown in the attached program.
