1-Buckingham Palace is one of London’s wonders. It has become the Queen’s official
London home since 1837. Victoria was the first Queen to live there with her husband
Prince Phillip. The palace was originally built in 1703 and was known as Buckingham House.
Today, it is also used for the administrative work of the British monarch. The Queen
receives and entertains guests invited to the palace. When the Queen is at home, you
can see her flag flying on top of Buckingham Palace.

2-There are five guards outside the palace. They wear red jackets and tall, furry hats.
When the first guards come to work, there is an impressive ceremony called the
Changing of the Guard. It takes place every morning.

3-The palace has around seven hundred and fifty-five rooms, including fifty-two royal
and guest bedrooms, seventy-eight bathrooms, ninety-two offices, a cinema and a
swimming pool. It also has its own post office and police station. More than eight
hundred people work at the Palace. Each year, around fifteen million tourists visit it.
