TYPES OF INFORMATION DISORDERS

DISINFORMATION MISINFORMATION MALINFORMATION

DISINFORMATION

A news story telling that climate change is just a myth, even though it has
been scientifically proven to be true for a long time now.

mISINFORMATION

A satirical post from the Philippine Daily New Society, saying that
the BFP will suspend fire operations to conserve water, which is
very impossible as fire cannot be left unattended.

A girl shares all of her ex-best friend's secrets after a

fight, thinking that she can get even with her.

A WISE NETIZEN
In the modern world, where technology makes our lives easier, information has
also become much more accessible than it
used to be. From what I have
learned while studying the short course on Media and Information Literacy,
our problem is not where to look for information but how to assess the
information that we find. Resources are available anywhere around us,
factual or not. That is why, as wise netizens, we should think more than twice
before believing in the information presented to us to avoid becoming victims
of information disorders.
