Checklist Items

1 As the project proceeds through each model review each model must be
updated to incorporate any changes from the model review log.
2 Confirm the current civil model is loaded and updated to latest design
comments.
3 Confirm the current electrical model is loaded and updated to latest design
comments.
4 Confirm all stress comments are incorporated as per the stress engineer's
comments. Does stress markup match current design or has it changed?
Notify stress of any major changes.
5 Confirm the current equipment models are loaded and updated to latest
vendor data.
6 Before isometrics are run, the designer will check his/her P&ID's against the
Contract Master stick file. He/she will then yellow off NWD model against
the updated P&IDs to ensure it is accurate and all items on the P&ID are
included in the model.
7 Review model to plot plan.
8 Confirm clearance between equipment and buildings for maintenance
vehicles.
9 Consider crane access for equipment lifts during construction and
maintenance requirements such as tube removals etc.
10 Confirm accessibility sufficient around equipment for adequate operability of
instruments and valving etc.
11 Tank farm – are cleanouts close to each other to minimize contamination or
damage? Is there adequate truck access for both truck out and maintenance?
Is there room for heater withdrawals? Tank elevation vs pump elevation?
12 Check access, egress, headroom, maintenance areas, stiles & platform
accessibility.
13 All walkways, platforms, man accessible areas are clear from potential head
collisions and knee knockers.
14 Piping is run in an efficient manner, common pipe supports, platforms, etc.
15 As each line is being reviewed all inline instruments and instrument
connections are to be checked against the vendor data supplied by the
instrument group.
16 Adequate up and down stream straight pipe lengths for meter runs, tap
orientations.

17 Control valves, actuators location/orientation (instrument engineer to confirm

piping has used the correct vendor information on all instruments).
18 Are all instruments accessible & have sufficient clearance for
installation/removal.
19 Flanged instrumentation connections required for sour service piping (As
required by line class spec).
20 Block valves handwheels before and after PSV’s are to have their stems
horizontal or down. PSV bypass free drain with no pocket. PSV supported on
upstream and downstream side.
21 Eliminate pockets and dead legs wherever possible.
22 Drain lines are self-draining.
23 Slopes on vent and flare piping as required by P&ID.
24 Lines between tank and dyke walls have at least one elbow for
expansion/settlement.
25 Extra flanges included for future expansions
26 Piping is supported adequately, show field supports if required
27 All small piping connections in hydrocarbon service are adequately gusseted.
Nature of the service has been reviewed when considering gusseting.
28 Glycol or steam tracing stations and crossover piping complete.
29 Piping spacing guidelines are followed as a minimum.
30 Allowed a minimum of 15% extra space on main pipe racks for future
expansion unless agreed upon by client.
31 Check line spacing to confirm sufficient space for installation, insulation
requirements and thermal expansion calculations.
32 Electrical cable trays are modelled, and adequate space provided.
33 Dimensions elevations and coordinates are not to be checked, altered or
moved unless absolutely necessary.
34 Handwheels size confirmed to project data and lever actuators are modelled
with a swing direction. (Clockwise to close.)
35 Isometrics to be run for checking after model check is completed and
comments have been incorporated.
36 All modules are confirmed against client approved shipping envelopes.

NOTE: Once a model/drawing is in checking it should be considered frozen and no further modifications done until
checking complete.
