KANBAN HOMEWORK:

Conceptual Design:

 Develop the overall project scope with the client.


 Establish the design criteria as per the client requirements.
 Identify any project budget limitations.
 Identify the implementation schedule.
 Submit systems descriptions for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection
systems, including alternative solutions/systems where applicable.
 Perform a review of code to identify applicable codes and code requirements.
 Submit opinion of probable cost and review compliance with project budget.
 Perform mark ups using rule of thumb and submit to Senior Engineer for review.
 Initiate corrective actions as per Senior Engineer review.
 Submit mark ups to CAD technician to complete basic floor plan drawings and risers.
 CAD technician to submit drawings to Engineer/Senior Engineer for review.
 CAD technician to initiate corrective actions.
 CAD technician to prepare drawing register and submit along with drawings.
 Attend design coordination meetings.

Design Development:

 Prepare detailed calculations based on detailed information provided by architect and


equipment schedule.
 Submit calculations and schedule to Senior Engineer for review.
 Initiate corrective actions based on Senior Engineer comments.
 Perform mark ups using the approved detailed calculation and submit to Senior
Engineer for review.
 Initiate corrective actions based on Senior Engineer comments.
 Submit approved mark ups to CAD technician to complete floor plan drawings, riser
diagrams, equipment schedule and basic details of select MEP systems.
 CAD technician to submit drawings to Engineer/Senior Engineer for review.
 CAD technician to initiate corrective actions.
 CAD technician to prepare drawing register and submit along with drawings.
 Submit a cost estimate and review compliance with project budget.
 Provide update for project schedule.
 Attend design coordination/submittal review meetings.

Tender Stage:

 Selection of tendering contractors – can be open tendering, selective tendering or


single contractor selection.
 Assessing a suitable tender period based on the complexity of the project, size of the
project, time of the year and market conditions.
 Producing and compiling tender documents – design information, bill of quantities,
schedules of works, schedule of rates and preliminaries.
 Issuing the tenders.
 Respond to tender queries during tender process, consider tender addenda (if any),
perform mid term interviews especially for complex projects, consider tender
withdrawals, etc.
 Receiving tenders, reviewing tenders to check for errors conflicts, raising tender
queries and conflicts in information.
 Perform post-tender interviews.
 Create a checklist of further items to review.
 Following a full analysis and tender interview, a tender report should be produced to
notify tenderers.

Pre-Construction Stage:

 Submit MEP drawings and specifications for review and coordination.


 Participate in final coordination with all consultants.
 Submit final calculations to Senior Engineer for review.
 Submit a final opinion of probable cost.
 Prepare a permit set for submittal to the authority having jurisdiction.
 Attend up design coordination/submittal review meetings.

Construction Stage:

 Submit final MEP drawings and specifications to contractors.


 Prepare an Issued for Construction document set incorporating all addenda and permit
corrections.
 Perform periodic on-site field observation and prepare written report.
 Review shop drawings and submittals.
 Respond to contractor’s requests for information.
 Prepare change order requests if required, exclusive of Owner requested changes.
 Review contractor’s pricing for change order requests.
 Perform quality assurance procedures.

Handover Phase:

 Review contractor’s record drawings and operations and maintenance manuals.


 Submit an up-to-date testing and commissioning data.
 Submit all certificates and warranties in respect of the works.
 Submit equipment test certificates for lifts, escalators, lifting equipment, etc.
 Perform a post-occupancy evaluation.
