• A good literature review should have critical analysis of the studies
• It should give a broad overview of the field.
• It should talk about the challenges and the future directions of the filed.

SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

• In google scholar for systematic literature review searches can not be replicated therefore we should
not use google scholar for systematic review.
• Systematic review has to be quantitative and replicable.
• A systematic literature review should have a clearly defined question that can be answered using
PICO format.
PICO FORMAT

• P - A description of the population (Stratify into different population Groups)


• I – An identified intervention
• C – An explicit comparison
• O – Relevant Outcomes

• For example if the topic is effect of public transit in reducing expenses.


• Then there will be two types of population who uses public transit and who doesn’t uses
• Then we have to identify an intervention so here intervention will be use of public transit
• Then we have to compare between those two types of population
• And at last we have to give outcome like weather the use of public transportation helped in reducing the
expenses of people or not.

LITERATURE REVIEW PROCESS

• Problem formulation Clearly defining which topic or field is being examined and what its component issues are.
• Literature search Finding all materials relevant to the subject being explored and keeping up to date during the review
process.
(Use as many synonyms as possible for search and use synonymes that depicts entire class or individual components , For eg.
For south Asia region Use synonyms as India , Bangladesh , Srilanka etc.)
• Data evaluation Determining which literature makes a significant contribution to the understanding of the topic.
• Analysis and interpretation Discussing the findings and conclusions of pertinent literature.
• Write and Publish Produce a formatted document that you can get published in an appropriate journal to inform
everyone of your findings.

(Do not use too many references or citations in one sentence and use good mix of new and old papers for literature
review.)
