INTRODUCTION

Almost everyone has endured the uncomfortable sensation of a mosquito bite.
Mosquitoes are widespread flying insects that can be found almost anywhere in the
world. Not all mosquitoes bite humans or animals. Itching and swelling are the most
frequent responses to mosquito bites in humans that are the result of an allergic
reaction to the saliva of the insect. In the Philippines, several diseases spread by
mosquitoes like dengue, malaria and filariasis still have an impact on every person.
More recent data demonstrate that mosquitoes also transmit illnesses such as the Zika
and Chikungunya viruses. Dengue is one of the diseases spread by mosquitoes.
regarded as the most significant illness in the world and in the nation.
The students should take precautions against diseases that mosquitoes spread.
Yet, some persons have a moderate, transient disease or a severe or long-term illness
after being bitten by an infected mosquito. Serious cases of illnesses spread by
mosquitoes can be fatal. When studying in an area where mosquitoes are biting,
students are at risk. The risk to students varies depending on where they are studying
in the school or in their home. Students are at higher risk of getting bitten by
mosquitoes, especially that mosquitoes can thrive abundantly in environments as long
as artificials containers can function as their breeding grounds.
This study aimed to prevent the senior high school students in Notre Dame
Trece from being bitten by mosquitoes, also to prevent them from getting different
diseases and viruses. The researchers aimed to determine the effectiveness of
origanum vulgare as a repellent against mosquitoes. Oregano oil is considered as an
effective antiseptic and insect repellent. It contains some active chemicals, including

carvacrol, thymol, and terpinene, which have been shown to be efficient in repelling
mosquitoes.

LEARNINGS
I gained many experiences while doing this research capstone project. I was
exposed in an actual experiment, making a mosquito repellent using oregano leaves.
