Explanation of Formula and Assumptions
used:
10.5000
• For the N75 the values measured (at
standard conditions) are: speed, capacity, 10.0000
Specific power kW/(m 3/min)

max. power and efficiencies. For the GA 75

machine these values are stated as published 9.5000
by Atlas Copco, FF version, 20°C, 0%RH.
• IR measured values are in accordance with 9.0000 kW Savings
acceptance test standard ISO 1217: 1996
Annex C and CAGI/PNEUROP PN2CPTC2. 8.5000
• Formula “Total Elect. Power” used for the
N160 is: Measured Shaft Power * Service 8.0000
Factor (1.1)/ Motor Eff. (0.945-0.959) /
Inverter Eff. (0.97) + VFD Fan Elect. Power / 7.5000
Fan Eff. (0.896) / Inverter Eff. (0.96)
• The “Top-up Curve” - shows the equivalent 7.0000
projected specific power values at loads
smaller than 29%. The top-up is done at a
6.5000
higher speed range, hence consuming in

Comparison Conclusions:
• At full load capacity and energy consumption of both machines are very similar. For almost the same
capacity the N75 has a significant lower energy consumption.
• The separate inverter for the fan on the N75 enables the compressor
• to operate at low and constant specific power at any load.
• to operate quieter than any other compressor by slowing down or turning of the fan.
• considered fan energy consumption is at its “worst case”: the fan at normal conditions runs less
often, consuming less energy than stated.
• The specific power of the GA75 starts to be good from 50% load, but is fluctuating, whereas the N75 is
constantly low.
• This difference, and with it the saved energy, is extreme in the lower speed range where the GA75
needs to serve at lower speed because it can’t cycle as often as a Nirvana. This shows that the Nirvana
is a true VSD Compressor.
