Specimen Cutters
Compact and flexible
Wingo’s specimen cutters enable stable cutting of materials without waste. Even difficult-to-process materials
can be cut with precision.
The double-column clamping vice enables secure clamping of irregularly shaped materials and easy vertical cutting.
Cooling water/cutting fluid circulated by a pump is sprayed from a whetstone cover to prevent degradation and
clogging by whetstone particles due to heat effects during cutting and enable reduction of post-finishing processes.
A transparent safety cover enables safe work by preventing scattering of whetstone particles and cutting chips.
Moving and rotating parts are sinter-polished for excellent durability.

Manual Front/Back-slide Cutting Type

■Features
The manual front/back- slide cutting models have an
established reputation among operators. During the cutting is
performed by pulling the side handle, hardness and states of
the material being cut can be felt sensitively by the response
transmitted to the hand.

(The handle is a circular handle in the L-9000/9100 models.)

The spindle motor is equipped with an ammeter that lets an

operator clearly know the hardness of the material being cut,
the cutting quality and other load conditions.

The wide working base enables cutting of long materials.

The double-column clamping vice enables secure clamping of

irregularly shaped materials and prevents burr formation and
chipping during cut-off.

UD models (in which the whetstone shaft moves vertically)

are also available.

 Large Cutters Models LSM-1000UD/1000AUD and LSM-1300UD/1300AUD

■Features
The spindle is moved vertically by a motor by one-touch
operation, enabling cutting of high-height materials and
maximum use of the whetstone even when worn (in both
manual and automatic models).
The vice opens and rotates to the front, back, right and
left to enable cutting, vertical cutting and cutting-to-size
of long materials, irregularly shaped materials, etc.

Automatic cutting is performed by one-touch operation.

Working time is not wasted because when the cutting
ends, all operations are stopped after the cutter
automatically returns to the original position (with the
AUD models).
The main unit internal tank for cooling water is equipped
with a circulation pump that jets water from both
surfaces of the whetstone to prevent adverse effects on
the material being cut.
A waterproof internal lamp in the main unit enables
working under well-lit conditions.
The front safety cover is equipped with a wiper to enable
clear observation of the interior during cutting.

 Hot Mounting Presses (Hot Pressing Models)
Sagging of a sample during grinding/polishing can be prevented by mounting the sample in resin.
The specimen is made easier to hold with the fingers during manual grinding/polishing and stable grinding/polishing
conditions can be realized by setting the specimen in a holder for automatic grinding/polishing.
Hot Mounting is extremely advantageous, especially with small and irregularly shaped materials, and
enables excellent specimen surfaces to be obtained.
A material can be mounted in resin in a short time by hydraulic pressing and heating by a temperature-controlled
heater in the Handy press, Semi-automatic press or Motorized press model.
A hot mounting resin is used as the mounting resin.
The seal is opened for prevention measure of deposition of resin waste.
Adjust the hydraulic pressure for not over pressure.
Attached the heater cover newly.

 System polishers L-2000 Series (with washing bowl)

The wide table with its built-in large washing bowl makes washing easy and provides a wide workspace.
The 8” (205φ) disk diameter is standard for the L-2000 Series, and the 12” (300φ) disk diameter is standard for the L-
3000 Series.

In regard to rotation speed, a selection can be made from among single fixed speed (R), two fixed speed (K), variable

The system attachments are compact devices for performing accurate and highly precise grinding/polishing of thin samples
of rocks, minerals, teeth, bones, plants, etc., which have been considered difficult to grind/polish without considerable long-
term experience. Grinding/polishing of semiconductor wafers and substrates is also made easy.

The diverse attachments are prepared under rigorous precision control and can be selected freely and mounted or
exchanged easily. The attachments are available in three types - auto drive, free drive and Stonewell.

■Auto Drive Set/L-1305

Extremely useful attachments for performing automatic grinding/polishing. Especially optimal for resin-
molded metal specimens.

■Set Details
The Auto drive sets is extremely useful for performing automatic grinding/polishing and is especially
optimal for resin-molded metal specimens (mold diameter: 25φ, 32φ, 38φ).
The polishing disks are aluminum disks of 8” outer diameter. All are compatible with the main unit
and can be attached/detached easily. Four disks (three for paper and one for cloth) are included as
standard.
The Trimite papers are silicon carbide papers with uniform particles of high wear resistance and high
cutting properties.
The Clearon cloth is made of high quality nylon and is optimal for final polishing of metal samples.
The alumina liquid C (1.0μ) is a liquid suspension of high-purity alumina and is optimal for combined
use with the Clearon cloth.

※ The polishing time can be shortened by using a diamond slurry or paste for polishing after
grinding.

Disks with central hole have a hole for setting on a Wingo attachment(ADA).
Disks without central hole (flat Disks) are used EADA, FAS-2, FAS-3 etc and when performing manual
grinding/polishing.
If processed MG to Flat disks, can use MG systems.
Stainless plate (Fluororesin-Coated) scanty and low cost. When stick it on a buff use it for MG System, a merit
appears.
9” disk is recommended for grinding/polishing round materials (when the L-1210 or L-5210 Metal sets is used).

PVC disks can use for L-6050 and L-6500 series. φ225 disk is only L-6500 series.

Super Diamond Sheet Disks

The sheet resin is extremely strong in diamond holding ability
and excellent grinding/polishing performance can be provided
without fall-off of the abrasive.
The high-strength, heat-resistant resin sheet itself has high

■Operation Procedure
1 Specimen onto the holder.
Rough ～ midle process are 2～3 process, set the disks on MD Disk. Attach and set the paper onto the disk in consideration

of performing the paper process three times.
3 Mount the holder onto the pressing shaft.
4 Set the polishing time within a range of 0 to 30 minutes.
5 Set the polishing pressure within a range of 20 to 300N or 20 to 400N.
6 Turn on the faucet and let a small amount of water drip.
Press the ON switch. (The holder and disk begin to rotate and the pressing shaft descends and contacts the disk to

pressurize. The descent stops automatically when the load value is reached.)
8 When the timer reaches zero, the polishing ends and the holder rises.
9 Turn off the faucet.
10 Remove the holder from the pressing shaft, check the polish surface, re-attach, and perform the next process. Exchange the
disk with that for the next process. Repeat the same procedure to perform the Rough～midle process paper process.
11 (Buff process)Set the buffing disk in consideration of performing the buffing process one or two times and drip the polishing
liquid onto the disk surface. The operation procedure is the same as that for the Rough～midle process paper process.
