DATA MANAGEMENT INTERN - RELAPU

Background
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise
and part of the German Development Cooperation. GIZ-RELAPU is The Uganda country
component of the Global Programme “Responsible Land Policy” named “Responsible Land
Policy in Uganda (RELAPU)” is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Lands, Housing
and Urban Development. This global programme was commissioned by the BMZ to GIZ in
October 2015 and is currently implemented in eight countries worldwide (Peru, Benin,
Madagascar, Laos, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, and Uganda). RELAPU aims “to
improve access to land as a key precondition for poverty and hunger reduction in rural areas for
certain population groups, especially for women and marginalized groups, in Central, Eastern
and Northern Uganda”.

Title Data Management Intern

RELAPU Programme
Reports to: Senior Advisor on Tenure Data Integration and Quality Assurance/ Rural
Development Advisor
Duty Station: Mityana, Uganda
Contract Duration: 3 months

A. Key Learning Areas


• Participate in liaising with and supporting the Area land committees (ALC) on data update.
• Assists in liaising with the district staff surveyor and Ministry Zonal offices on data
management and Update.
• Support update of entries in land inventory database.
• Support quality assurance of inventory data.
• Learn in any other filed of a Trainee’s professional development

B. Required qualifications, competences, and experience


Qualifications
• Currently undertaking or completed a degree surveying or Diploma in IT, Computer
Science, Cartography, Land Economics, Valuation Surveying, Engineering or a closely
related field

C. Other knowledge, additional competences


• Knowledge of database.
• Understanding of QGIS.
• Excellent understanding of excel
• Ability to work independently while working in a team and good communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of IT technologies and related software (GIS) and computer
applications.
• Ability to be pro-active and work independently.

• Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy.
