the point that that the two parties have decided to confront each other the land lord by taking
the tenant to a mediator who can help resolve the conflict and the tenant has also gone to the
mediator to try and resolve the problem therefore confronting each other.

2) What is the core problem in this conflict? (3 marks)

The main problem in this conflict is finance since the tenant isn’t able to pay rent

since she is a business woman she isn’t running a charity so she doesn’t want to know
whether the tenant has a job or doesn’t have on she just wants her money..

stance and so by talking to each of them individually the mediator was able to have
them come to the realization by themselves that it was best for the both of them to
come to solution.

4) How does the mediator deal with the actors during the caucus? (8 marks)
She is very calm and respectful towards them does not raise her voice but she sensitizes
to the tenant the consequences of not paying the rent which would be eviction and
being taken to court and being un able to find another place to rent because of the
eviction and the need to come up with a solution she is also able to talk to the landlord
who makes it clear that she wants her money or she would evict him even if it meant
the loss of the two moths rent as long as he was gone.

The agreement stage in this conflict comes about when the landlord agrees to the
tenant paying about 1950 dollars instead of the double late fees she wanted and the
tenant also agrees to pay this amount but doesn’t want to pay the late fees of about
3100 dollars. The tenant still wants to only pay 1750 but in the end he cooperates and
agrees to pay the 1950 since he still argues that he is not the one who brought the
matter to court and he shouldn’t pay the court fees or they should split it evenly.

spoke on the main points such as what the problem was and what solution could they come up
with to resolve the issue and the consequences of the outcomes of not solving the issue.

She was very polite to the two people in the way that she spoke to the both of the very calmly
