The Japanese Wife (2010)

Questions:

(1) For seventeen years, a couple (Snehamoy and Miyage) did not meet, but they could be
husband and wife (See figure 1 and 2 below). Do you believe in the existence of fairytales
like those depicted in this film in the real world? What are your reasons for or against it?

Figure 1 Figure 2

Answer : With the existence of these fairy tales, in the real world it is hard to believe how
someone can go for seventeen years without meeting but can get married, who at first was just a
pen pal, although in the real world there is a story of someone who without meeting they can get
married, in my opinion. this story is just a fictional story in novels in general that has no
connection in the real world, even if there is it will be a rarity that is difficult to find, because it
is difficult to trust someone without meeting in person to know their personality, especially in
this synopsis it is told that they know each other through letter.

(2) What prompted Miyage to propose to Snehamoy in one of her letters?

Answer : In the umpteenth letter, Snehamoy wrote to Miyage, that his mashi asked him to
marry Sandhya, a girl who was still a distant relative. Like any Indian girl who grew up
in the countryside, young Sandhya was so shy she didn't even dare to lift her face for
Snehamoy to see. To his surprise, Miyage replied and said that he was willing to be the
bride for Snehamoy. Snehamoy did not immediately agree to the proposal.

(3) How did their long-distance relationship (LDR) continue to exist in the aftermath of the
tragedy?
Answer : Two humans from two different regions are destined to communicate
by letter, as pen pals. Both are introverted and super shy types of people who find it
difficult to blend in with people in the environment where they live. They both find it
odd when they meet new friends. However, communication through letters with pen
pals actually makes them both comfortable and feel different closeness. The emotional
closeness between the two is getting more intense as more and more letters come to
each other, containing stories about everyday life, accompanied by unique gifts from
two different nations from one another. Therefore, communication is the most
important thing in this regard.
(4) What, in your opinion, drew Snehamoy to Miyage to the point where he was willing to
marry her?
Answer : When Sandhya and her son, Snehamoy arrived, wrote to Miyage, he
had never seen Sandhya's face, so he wanted Miyage to believe in him. What he saw,
every day Sandhya wore a plain white sari and covered her face, a sign that she was a
widow. Snehamoy also recounted that an Indian widow had to remove red powder
from her hair, some even had her hair shaved, depending on how devoted she was to
her late husband. So, what I just realized is, Miyage purposely shaved off his hair to
show his great devotion to Snehamoy, his late husband whom he never even met.

(5) How can they remain devoted to one other for such a long time without cheating?
Answer: They can survive in a loyal relationship without cheating for a long time maybe
because what the heart feels is more dominant than what the eye can see. Why did it last that
long? Because they are honest with each other, sincere, caring for each other and trusting each
other

(6) Snehamoy was once unfaithful due to a widow (Sandhya) brought to the home by his aunt
(see figure 3 below). Are you convinced that Snehamoy purposely caused this incident?

Figure 3
(7) Do you believe Snehamoy has feelings for the widow (Sandhya) after living in the same
house for a long period of time?

(8) The film had a startling scene in which Shehamoy masturbated on a boat and repeatedly
called his wife's name. Why would he do such a thing?

Figure 4

(9) In the night market, there were a scene prostitutes teased Snehamoy, and Miyage was
angry. Why did Snehamoy feel guilty even though Miyage was not by his side?

(10) For you, what is the film's best scene? Why?

Answer : The best scene in the story, in my opinion, was when Miyage was diagnosed
with cancer. He asked Snehamoy not to worry when he sent the doctor's results along with the
letter. Dan Snehamoy has pneumonia, but he can't get proper treatment because the storm has
isolated his village. and also when the journey of their love story when ldr

(11) Do you have an opinion on Shehamoy's defeat in the kite fighting scene?

(12) How did Snehamoy get pneumonia that resulted in his death? (See figure 5 below)

Figure 5

(13) Snehamoy fought so hard before his death to do anything he could to help his wife get
through difficult times. How deep is his love for his wife in light of what he did?
(14) Why Shehamoy rushed out when his oncologist doctor said, "Where is your wife?"
Answer : Snehamoy hurried away because the doctor couldn't help if the patient in question
wasn't there. Desperately, Snehamoy returned to his house. On the way home, heavy rain poured
down, and turned into a violent storm that hit the village for days. Snehamoy has pneumonia,
but he can't get proper treatment because the storm has isolated his village, because water
transportation can't work properly. The letter from miyage did not arrive until a few days later,
Snehamoy finally died.

(15) Do you want a true partner like Snehamoy or Miyage in your life? Whether yes or no, please
include a detailed explanation.
Answer : In real life, of course, I want it because there are also many people out there
who want a true partner who is able to accompany their life under any circumstances, but it
must be underlined that if we want something more, then we have to fight for more. we
want according to the effort we do.
(16) Miyage finally had the opportunity to see her spouse in India after surviving her cancer
struggle in Japan. She was dressed in a white sari and had her hair shaved. How great was a
wife's love for her husband when she committed such an act in Hinduism? (See figure 6
below.)

Figure 6

(17) Please describe your emotions while you saw the film's conclusion: "When Miyage entered
her husband's room for the first time, she discovered that everything she had ever sent him
was neatly arranged in that room." (See figures 7, 8, 9, and 10)

(18) What rating will you give this film? (Ratings range from 1 to 10) Explain your score!
Answer : From the film, the value I can give is 7 because the synopsis tells that love
doesn't always have to be real. It is not always necessary for those around us to know about the
love we feel. That it is impossible to do with whom we love how but we love and can maintain
everything. Here the author also teaches how we are patient in waiting for someone even though
someone cannot be sure that they will not come. The struggle to maintain family happiness and
also the happiness of his little heart. The author is able to bring us who managed to stumble into
this story with the genre of romantic historical fiction. However, the cover of the novel does not
mention in detail the contents of the novel. This novel is a collection of stories from different
locations from around the world. This is what made me disappointed because it was not focused
on one story but there were thirteen stories that it presented.
