Name Johnmar D. Tacugue Year & Section OV- 1-4 Score ____________

1. What/ who was Rizal for a hero?

Jose brought a new era for the Filipino people. His ability to inspire others and his
compassion for his people made him a national hero. In joining this movement, he
inspired his fellow Filipinos to take nonviolent action against the Spanish. His words
awakened new ideas throughout the Philippines. He fought for freedom in an
exceedingly silent but powerful way he expressed his love for the Philippines as his
expanded family.

All men are born equal, naked, without bonds. Did not create an to be a slave nor did he
endow him with intelligence to have him hoodwinked, or adorn him with reason to have
him deceived by others.

This saying of Dr Jose Rizal wants to tell us that all people in this world are equal, we are
not born to be a slave, we need to show to others that if they are smart, and what are
the things they can do we can do it also. Filipino are not born to deceive by other
country, we need to show them that we can stand on our own.

Project-based:

1. Enumerate and explain why nationalism and symbols of nationalism are important in a
nation.
National symbols are very important to national identity. The importance of national symbols
can vary, depending on the strength, history, and political environment of the nation. However,
symbols are easily identified, and are used to "direct and organize, record and communicate.
National symbols are easily recognized entities that are used as means to communicate the
history and culture of a particular nation. These symbols can be used to instill pride and unity in
a nation's population.

SAMPAGUITA- Its white flower is believed to symbolize purity, fidelity, and hope.
PHILIPPINE FLAG- The three stars stand for the three big islands of the Philippines, namely
Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. As for the colours used, white represents hope for equality, while
the blue stripe stands for peace, truth, and justice. Finally, the red stripe symbolises patriotism
and valour.

of the Filipino people. It is tall, strong, enduring and signify the persistence of the Filipinos in their
demand for freedom.

PHILIPPINE PEARL- Pearls evoke elegance and distinction. They are a source of
incomparable joy.
ARNIS- Arnis is the national sport of the Philippines, therefore it's no wonder that it
represents the history, philosophy, and culture of the Filipino people. It is a fighting art that is
better understood by looking at its history and how deeply it is rooted in the Philippines' diverse

valor. The Philippine national anthem is entitled “Lupang Hinirang” and composed by Julian
Felipe.

2. Photo exhibit of different Rizal monuments in the Philippines and abroad with short
descriptions about their background and interpretations on their imagery and
representations.

It's a little known fact that Jose Rizal has monuments all over the world. Sure, you may know
about his plaque in Hong Kong or a monument dedicated to him in Spain, but we doubt you knew
he had a lot more than that (so much that it's pretty much impossible to mention every single
one).

Rizal himself had several travel experiences. He made his way to Singapore, Sri Lanka, Yemen,
Italy, France, Spain, and more. So, it's only fitting that the world remembered him for his
intellectualism and political activism. From Hong Kong all the way to France, here's where you'll
find monuments, landmarks, and historical markers featuring our national hero.
3. Integrating Project: Choose a key issue (e.g., heroism and notion of sacrifice; literature and
national consciousness; ethics and our concepts of leadership; ethnicity and national belonging)
to be tackled in (e.g., in a newspaper; an audio-visual project; composition of lyrics with musical
arrangement; or a painting/mural)
4. Suggest at least five symbols you think that needs to be recognize as the official national
insignia of our country and express your idea about it.
