•A form of a verb that shows if something
happens in the past, present or future.
•Tense can be defined as a word form used to
indicate the time of occurrence of an incident
with reference to the moment of speaking.
•It indicates the completion or continuance of an
activity.

Past Tense
•Past tense is used to describe a past activity or
action.
•It is a form of the verb that defines the events that
have already occurred.
Examples:-

Simple Past Tense


The simple past is a verb tense that is

Rule -
Subject + V2 + Object

Past Continuous Tense


The past continuous tense, also known as
the past progressive tense, refers to a continuing
action or state that was happening at some point
in the past.

Rule -
Subject + was + V1 + ing + Object (Singular)
Subject + were + V1 + ing + Object (Plural)
Examples:
I was eating pudding.
Sia was writing a letter to the editor.

Past Perfect Tense


The past perfect, also called the
pluperfect, is a verb tense used to talk
about actions that were completed before
some point in the past.

Rule -

Past Perfect Continuous Tense


The past perfect continuous tense (also known
as the past perfect progressive tense) shows
that an action that started in the past continued
up until another time in the past.

Examples:

I had been eating diet food for the whole summer.
