Guideline Instructions
1. Shutdown the computer. Disconnect all cables and peripheral devices.
2. Inspect the physical/hardware components of the computer systems.
3. Start the computer with “cold boot”.
4. Access the system firmware in the ROM. Browse all the information and options that are available.
5. Exit the system firmware and discard any changes. (DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES)
6. Open the computer properties:
a. View the basic information about the computer.
b. Change the computer name into your nickname and the workgroup into AI0023.
c. Locate all the device drivers of all hardware devices installed on your computer.
7. Open the control panel to change settings and customize the functionality of your computer.
a. Set the date, time, and currency into Malaysian format; and set the First day of week as “Ahad”.
b. Synchronize the time with the internet time server and show additional clock that display the time zone
in Hawaii.
c. Add a new user in PC Settings and change the account type to Administrator.
d. Show the extensions for all file types.
e. Display long pointer trails of your mouse.
f. Enable 3D Text Screensaver with your name for 1 minute wait.
8. Make your taskbar becomes auto-hide.

Find out what types of drives are on your computer (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, etc.).
Count the number of buttons, sockets, and ports on your computer.
What are some of the peripherals you can use with your computer?
Are there any keys or combination of keys on your keyboard that you haven't used before?
