Some remarkable changes in the worldwide sales of several electronic games

over a 7-year period are illustrated in the given bar chart.

Looking from an overall perspective, the statistics of mobile phone games,

online games, and handheld games experienced an upward trend, while the
opposite can be seen in those of console games. In addition, handheld games
were the most prevalent compared to the other types throughout the given
period.

Concerning handheld games and console games, in 2000, the figure for
handheld games was around 10 billion dollars. Then, this figure gradually rose
to approximately 18 billion dollars, reaching its highest peak in 2006. On the
contrary, starting as the second most favored sort of games, a moderate decline
from just under 6 billion dollars in 2000 to roughly 3 billion dollars in 2006 can
be seen in the statistics for console games.

Turning to the remaining types of games, the global sales for mobile phone
games, and online games followed a similar pattern, with both figures climbing
up swiftly for the first six years. In 2006, the statistics for both mobile phone
games and console games were more than 7 billion dollars.
