Today I attended another Atlanta Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) meeting with
Kevin in Marietta. This meeting was focused on Community Preparedness and the Citizens
Corps. The main discussion was about Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training
in the counties that are a part of Atlanta UASI and how the training rates have declined since the
COVID-19 pandemic. Similar to the last UASI meeting I attended, we discussed the current
goals for the Community Preparedness and Citizens Corps for the counties within Atlanta UASI,
and how to make them achievable and measurable. After the meeting, we returned back to the
office where I continued to work on the Critical Facilities list for the hazard mitigation plan.
I arrived at the office early today because of another meeting I was going to be attending
with Kevin. This meeting was the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, which is a
branch of the Department of Homeland Security. The main focus of this meeting was
Cybersecurity in Water and Wastewater facilities, and throughout the meeting they explained the
different ways that cybersecurity is monitored in these facilities as well as walked us through
what steps should be taken if there were to be a cybersecurity breach in one of these facilities. It
was very interesting overall, and it was cool that I got to meet four Homeland Security agents.
After the meeting, we returned back to the office where I worked on the critical facilities list with
Ashley.

Today I continued to work on the critical facilities list, and I began looking for a way to
make this slightly easier to complete. With over 2,000 locations listed for the county, there are a
lot of locations that I am not able to find the names for. The one’s I am having the most difficulty
with are the critical facilities for the Gwinnett Department of Water Resources. These locations
consist mostly of different pumping stations throughout the county, and they are not marked on
google maps or listed anywhere on the county’s website so today Ashley and I were discussing
different ways to try and find the different names for each location.
To end the week, I continued to work on the critical facilities list for Ashley. I have
almost finished all of the county owned facilities, and after that I will be able to move through
the list quicker since most of the locations are going to be businesses, religious buildings, or
schools.
