I was able to attend a few more meetings this week that I was not able to include in my

reflection paper, but I thought they were interesting, so I wanted to share. On Monday, July 17th, I

attended a Sheltering Meeting with the Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale Public Health and Georgia

Department if Public Health with the Director of the Gwinnett County Office of Emergency

Management (GCOEM) where he shared Gwinnett County’s sheltering plans and was able to

discuss the shelter that the Office of Emergency Management set up a few weeks ago.

On Tuesday, July 18th, I was able to attend the Monthly Area 7 Emergency Management

meeting that we hosted in our Emergency Operations Center at the GCOEM. This meeting was

just for everyone in Area 7 of GEMA to meet, which includes Cobb, Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinnett,

Rockdale, and a few more Emergency Management Agencies.

On Wednesday, July 19th, I attended the Hazard Mitigation Planning Meeting for

Gwinnett County with Ashley where representatives from each agency within Gwinnett County

vote on making any changes to the Hazard Mitigation Plan. This meeting was very interesting,

and I am glad I got to see what my work with updating the Critical Infrastructure list went

towards, as well as how the Hazard Mitigation plan is voted on by the members of the county

agencies.
