INTRODUCTION

Project context

Technology has witnessed impressive evolution in the Past few decades,

which has turn transformed our lives and helped us. Technology has

contributed more than anything to help mankind live a life of luxury and

convenience.

Student attendance monitoring is a web-based base application. The benefits

of the system are the computerize attendance sheet and to light end the

burden of in charge.

To store the attendance time in and out records of each student who enter in

the campus and the ability to access these records anytime.

The system incorporates a way of recording the student's daily subject

attendance and events. However, the student attendance on B.E.S.T is

mostly done entirely by hand therefore there are plenty of possibilities at

which things can go wrong due to human error.

Since attendance process consumes a lot of time and it is prone to errors and

lots of data. It will be helping to build a system that computerize attendance

sheet improve and it will be minimize the time consuming.

As a result, the time can be use in productive activities with the student

attendance monitoring system for B.E.S.T Collage of Polomolok Inc. It helps

to keep the attendance sheet to the teachers. The system will provide the
much -needed method of storing information in a faster and more convenient

way by storing file every now and then.

This study by the proponents can assist teacher in B.E.S. T College of

Polomolok to monitor the Student attendance reducing the paper work, and

improving data collection and records. This system is simple and user friendly.

Background of the study

The B.E.S. T Collage of polomolok Inc. Started as a primary school in June

1995, renting a building along national highway corner cannery road owned

by Mr. Ramon Chua. Through of their success their school become popular

and the population of their student was increase and the owner of the school

decided to have a permanent site At Valencia site polomolok south Cotabato

in June 1998.

This become possible with the help of the parents and Mr. Isidro D. Lumayag

who was the mayor that time And by the God's power. In May 11, 2000 the

school was granted a government recognition and after 5 years of operation

the department of Education standardized the school.

The south Cotabato office or region II and region XII granted their school to

have the permit to finally open the secondary school starting at first year level

with 8 students on June 2001.Since then the school Influence many students

to enroll and had the First commencement on November 8,2004 the first

batch.

In September 16,2008 TESDA granted the registration to the first two

Technical Vocational programs, Programming NC IV and food and beverage

services NC II. Fourteen other programs successively followed accreditation

by TESDA. by July 15, 2010 the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

certified to the amendments to its articles of the incorporation including its

new name B.E.S.T Collage of polomolok(B.E.S.T polomolok Inc). A great leap

of the faith towards tertiary Education. The acronym B.E.S.T which was a

Review of Related Literature

This chapter includes some related literature and studies, both local and

foreign, which are presented in the following paragraphs.

Foreign study

Attendance is one of the essential activities in an educational institute.

Students 3ewxtend to bunk lectures or give a proxy attendance which can

lead to chronic absenteeism and can further affect their academic

performance. Parents and faculty are always concerned about their

ward’s/student’s poor attendance. The conventional method of conducting

student attendance in each lecture can be time consuming. Also, the roll

calling process can take up around 30 min on a daily basis, which is an

inefficient method. In addition, there is a high chance of proxy attendance in

the manual approach, further raising concerns among the faculty and parents.

According to fedena, it is a common sight in schools, colleges and educational

institutions all over the world to see the teacher take students’ attendance at

the beginning of each school day, and sometimes even multiple times during

the course of the day. Even in virtual classrooms, taking attendance is a

mandatory routine at the start of every class. Tracking student attendance

helps the teachers to keep track of student absenteeism and punctuality. It

helps schools understand the average percentage of students attending

school each day in the given year and helps them find ways to avoid

dropouts. This information, when shared with the government authorities, also

helps them work on policies to reduce truancy and keeps kids in school.

However, there are also many disadvantages of manual attendance system –

It is a time-consuming process Huge amount of paperwork involved Reduces

the classroom teaching time and productivity of the teacher High scope for

human error when tabulating attendance Students can manipulate the system

in many ways the process of manually tracking attendance has always been a

complicated and cumbersome task. Over the years, several solutions have

been developed to record student attendance. The most popular of these is a

Student Attendance Management System. (fedena Blog,2021)

Local Literature and Study

The attendance monitoring system provides registration and complete

progressing of the employees’ attendance and can be interlinked to other

information system. It is intended for all organization types, ranging from state

administration bodies to banks to industrial companies. Data is stored in an

SQL server database (MS SQL server, Oracle 8i, Sybase SQL anywhere),

allowing distributed data processing within a computer network. User can also

utilize a thin client - the intranet application for attendance data processing

(employees can use the application for attendance data viewing). The solution

involves Bi- directional interface to personnel and wage system.

Identification is carried out by means of attendance readers with a display and

keypad (to enter flags such as business matter, medical appointment, holiday

etc.) which are able to identify a person based on the identification element. A

person is identified in the control software by being assigned a means of

identification, which can be and ID card or biometric characteristic.

The software can be supplemented with a monitoring program, providing real

- time on- line information on employs presence status.

The attendance system allows:

1. Monitoring of the employees’ presence at any moment

2. Individual configuration of work calendar for each employee

3. Calculation of actual hours of work and recording of overtime hours

4. Calculation of monthly total hours worked

5. Automatic calculation for late arrivals (due to business matters, medical

appointments) or earlier leaves from work (working time interruptions),

assessment of half - day holiday leaves

6. Recording calculation and classification of working time interruptions (basic

and additional interruptions) can be configured in the system easily.

7. Monitoring of observance of breaks at works. (Jasmin11,2013)

With today’s fast development, traditional methods of checking, recording

and calculating data are becoming more and more obsolete. Improving

productivity of the technology are the most important consideration in

order to replace the manual or traditional operations. With the emergence

of computer technologies today, many operations manually processes

have been automated by most computer software. The automation of

manual process saves time, energy and resources. Computer technology

has also become an aid in teaching. Lots of computer application

nowadays helps to facilitate risky transaction in terms of data handling

and manipulation. Computers are also used as a tool to automated

monotonous classroom such as attendance control and monitoring. Most

school, in level across the Philippines employ tedious and time-consuming

attendance monitoring. some use paper-based which require students to

submit it with their name and section. A convenient method, especially in

large classes, is a seating plan to easily check free seats and assign them

to the assigned students. After collecting the data, any of these methods

would still require the information collected to be encoded in order to

generate an attendance report. Student have to go to school every day to

be successful. The good news from this research is that going to school

leads to academic success. ( Arman,2021)
