MODEL

ASSURE MODEL

-- is a procedural guide for planning and delivering instructions that integrates technology
and media into the teaching process. It also refers to a systematic approach of writing lesson
plans that helps teachers in organizing instructional procedures. The Assure Model was
created in 1999 by Heinrich and Molenda, 2008 it is modified by Smaldino Lowther Russell, to
be used by teachers in the classroom.

The ASSURE MODEL acronyms stands for this important components:

A - nalyze Learners

S - tate objectives

S - elect methods, media and materials

U - tilize methods, media and materials

R - equire learners participation

E - valuate and revise

ANALYZE LEARNERS

-- It has (3) classifications:

General characteristics -- It depends on the reading skills, ethnic or cultural subgroup,

learners apathy, and social background of the audience.

Specefic Entry Competencies -- learners have the prerequisite knowledge or skill to begin the
lesson in the school settings.

Learning Styles -- it refers to a cluster of psycological traits that determine how an individual
perceives, interacts with respond emotionally to learning environments.

STATE OBJECTIVES

-- this components contains four (4) parts:

* Audience

* Behavior to be demonstrated

* Conditions under which the behavior will be observed

* Degree to which the learned skills are to be mastered

Classifications of objectives

It has (3) categories (domains)

* Cognitive skills

* Affective skills

* Motor skills

SELECT METHODS, MEDIA AND MATERIALS

Selection process has two(2) stages:

* Deciding on the appropriate method for the given learning tasks.

* Choosing an appropriate media format and selecting, modifying or designing the specific
materials within that format.

UTILIZE METHODS, MEDIA AND MATERIALS

-- this fourth (4) components of assure model develop your plan for implementing your media
materials.

Certain utilization procedures:

-- Preview the materials

-- Practice portion of the presentation

-- Prepare your environment

-- Present the material

REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION

-- This component requires to describe how you are going to get each learner actively and
individually involved in the lesson.

EVALUATE AND REVISE

-- It is the last components of assure method that reflect on your objections from the
instructional strategy, instructional materials and assessment.
