ASSURE MODEL

• The ASSURE MODEL

-is an ISD (Instructional Systems Design) process that was modified to be used by teachers in
the regular classroom. The ISD process is one in which teachers and trainers can use to design
and develop the most appropriate learning environment for their students. You can use this
process in writing your lesson plans and in improving teaching and learning.
Incorporates Robert Gagne's events for instruction to assure effective use of media in
instruction.

• ASSURE

ANALYZE LEARNERS

• Who is the Audience?

• Demographics 2. General Characteristics 3. Entry Competitiveness 4. Learning

Preference

• Learners Identify learners General characteristics grade, age, ethnic group, sex, mental,
emotional, physical, or social problems, socioeconomic level Specific entry
competencies prior knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Learning style verbal, logical,
visual, musical, structured.

STATE OBJECTIVES

• What students need to learn?

• Learning outcomes 2. Course rubrics

• Skill/ concept b. proficiency or accuracy c. condition of performance

• State Objectives Be specific State terms of what student will be able to do include
conditions and degree of acceptable performance the objectives may be derived from a
needs assessment or a course syllabus, stated in a textbook, taken from a curriculum
guide, or developed by the instructor.

SUBJECT METHODS, MEDIA MATERIALS

• What do instructors need to use for face, online the hybrid teaching?

• Select instructional materials 2. Procedure new materials 3. Repurpose existing

materials
• UTILIZE MEDIA MATERIALS

• How do instructor use the materials?

• Preview materials 2. Prepare environment 3. Provide instruction

REQUIRE LEARNERS APPLICATION

• Students will actively engage in:

• 1. Discussion 2. E-mail group objectives 3. Formative assessment

EVALUATE AND REVISE

• What works? What doesn’t Summative Evaluation?

• Instruction delivery 2. Revision of media and materials to improve the student outcomes

• This model composed of six essential step sin planning instruction.

The first step of the procedure is Analyze Learners

• With the learner as the center of the instructional process, the initial consideration is to
get a clear picture of the learners learning styles, age level, and interest of preferences,
background, special needs and cultural diversity.

The second step on the procedure in state objectives.

This is the main instruction guide will direct the flow to reach the target. Known as the
learning outcome expected of the lesson, this statement describes what the learners
would be able to perform as the result of the instruction.

Cognitive Learning involves the whole array of intellectual capabilities, from simple
factual recall to the generation of new theories.

Affective Learning involves feelings and values. Objectives in the affective domain may
range from stimulating interest in a school subject to encouraging healthy social
attitudes to adopting a set of ethical standards.

Motor skill Learning involves athletic, manual, and other such physical skills. Objectives
in the motor skill domain include capabilities ranging from simple mechanical operations
to those entailing-sophisticated neuromuscular coordination and strategy, as in
competitive sports.
The third step is select methods, media and materials.

Selecting appropriate way of delivering the lesson and using the applicable media or
technology can effectively make learners acquire understanding of the lesson or gain
competence desired. The teacher has to decide which strategy, materials or technology
would be considering the learners and desired learning outcomes.

The Fifth is Require Learner Participation

Student engagement is an important element. The learners have to be made to

understand their role in taking accountability of their own learning. Therefore, the
teacher has to design selection of the lesson where the learners are guided to
participate in and perform tasks with minimal or on supervision at all.

The fourth step is utilize methods media and materials

• Having selected the strategy, media and materials is halfway of the task done. Planning
on how to implement these entails of lot consideration. Bearing in mind the learning
outcome of the lesson, the teachers decides which part of the instructional flow will a
particular materials or technology be employed and the manner on how it will be more
effective to achieve the learning outcome.

The Sixth step is require learners participation

• Assessing learners performance can take place across phases of the lesson, However, it
is emphasized that the basic rule is that the evaluation should be congruent to the
learning outcome provided in the lesson. Some outcomes that can be assessed by using
rubric or having a aggregated write-up through the use of portfolio assessment. The
teacher decides which is appropriate for the intention of the evaluative activity.

In conclusion, the ASSURE process is really just a matter of common sense. However, it
is good follow a regimented guide to improve your teaching technique. Any effective
teacher knows that the perfection of their technique does not overnight, and there is
always room for improvement. By following ASSURE process, you will be sure to
improve your teaching for many years to come.
