Revision 0

1. INTRODUCTION

Purpose of Manuel:

The first consideration of the master and every officer must be the safety of the lives on board and of the ship.

This Manuel is to be made available to and be ready by all officers as soon as possible after joining.
Crewmembers should be encouraged to familiarise themselves with the contents. It should be clearly and without
leaving any doubt be stated what the Master should do, what preventive actions and steps should be taken which
kinds of reports should be prepared. A broad explanation of this has been included in the safety management
manual.

This file contains what kind of emergency situations could arise, what to do in these cases, how preventive action
could be taken, etc. in a step by step procedure / check list design.

The procedures and checklists contain information in an order as far as it was possible to sort. The real aim is to
go through the emergency / panic moment with the seamen and have them face the situation calmly and fight
against it. When the procedures and check lists are analyzed, it will be seen that the step “inform the company “will
appear in different places. This is a recommended method. Based on the progression of the event, the Master may
find it suitable to change the turn of the actions and it must be born in mind that that the necessary action to be
taken can never be limited to those mentioned in the procedure and different action could be taken. The company
has been informed about situation.

The company and the vessels have to make emergency drills at certain times. These drills will also be recorded.
For example, an emergency call will be made from one of the vessels, emergency response team will be gathered
immediately and necessary action will be taken depending on the drill and so the drill will be completed. The goal
here is to strengthen the connection between the vessel and the company and to keep everybody ready for such
situations (emergencies).
