What Is Cause and Effect?
A cause is a motive, urge, or action that produces a reaction. Simply put,
cause is a cause that will cause an effect. Meanwhile, effect is a condition,
event, or result of one/several causes.
An example of simple cause and effect, for example, you plan to
go on a picnic in the park in the afternoon, but suddenly it rains
heavily. As a result, you have to cancel the agenda.
So, what is included in the cause in the above situation is the
heavy rain, and the effect is in the form of a picnic agenda that
must be cancelled.
 When do we use cause and
effect?
Cause and effect is a type of sentence that is commonly used in writing explanatory
texts or essays.
As we know, explanatory text is generally used to discuss why something can happen.
Examples of how rain can fall, how clouds are formed, and so on.
Well, this cause and effect sentence pattern will really help readers understand clear
and structured ideas. But, of course, you can also use cause and effect in everyday
conversation to express a condition to the person you are talking to.

1. Characteristics of the Cause (Cause)
It's easy enough to see how a clause is said to be a cause. These are the characteristics of the cause:
* Answer the question, “Why did this happen?”
* Contains signal words/linking words/causal linking
* Can be saved at the beginning or at the end

2. Characteristics of the Effect (Consequences)

So, you can conclude that a clause is included as an effect by looking at the
following characteristics:
* The answer to the question, “What happened?”
* Usually begins with signal words/linking words/causal linking
* Can be replaced with other nouns

* As a result of heavy rain, we canceled the camping event.
(Karena hujan yang sangat deras, kita membatalkan acara
camping.)

• There was a graduation ceremony on the city square, so
traffic was at a standstill.
(Ada upacara kelulusan di alun-alun kota, jadi lalu lintas
macet.)
Kamu penasaran nggak, apa bedanya because dan because of? Jadi,
because of adalah signal words/linking words dengan jenis
preposition (preposisi). Aturannya, setelah preposisi akan selalu
diikuti oleh noun atau pronoun.
Nah, kalau because adalah subordinate conjunction atau kata
penghubung yang digunakan pada awal klausa sebelum subjek dan
kata kerja (verb). 
Ingat ya, dalam hidup ini akan selalu ada sebab akibat atau cause
and effect. Kalau kata pepatah lain sih begini, “Tak akan ada asap
kalau tak ada api.” Jadi, sebuah dampak bisa terjadi karena ada
dorongan tertentu.
