STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Name: Mohith Kolli

Major: MS in Mechanical Engineering

“Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision
with action can change the world”. This distinguishes an engineer from others. An engineer acts to
bring visions to reality.

Education has a purpose to impact people's lives and to equip individuals with survival skill this
is exactly what I desire. Education teaches one, some basic skills to cope with life's challenges. The
human life is full of challenges, pleasures, problems, and disasters. Some of the challenges happen when
one is least prepared, and lack of proper coping skills leads to difficulties in understanding
circumstances and coping with challenges that happen in one's life. To excel in education, subject
mastery is required, and this requires one to enroll in a course.

Ever since my school days, I've been interested in the theoretical frameworks in Mathematics
and Sciences, which drive the physical world, and was also interested in sports and extracurricular
activities. After successful completion of my school studies, my interest towards applied science drove
me opt Math, Physics, and Chemistry in Intermediate (plus Two). Engineering, at this point of time,
seemed' as a natural extrapolation of my abilities and interests. The amazing task of moving the world is
the monopoly of machines, so I made Mechanical engineering my choice.

It is always about the passion and endless interest towards automobiles and their design which
made me to do Under Graduation in Mechanical Engineering and secured “First Class”. During my
bachelor’s I have presented several papers, among which “Stealth Technology” was awarded BEST in
inter college competition, did my project on “Design and analysis of Formula 1 car chassis with
different profiles” and active participant in extra circular activities.

I have been benefited vastly from the breadth of JNTU, Kakinada University’s undergraduate
syllabus and My interest in mechanical engineering was kindled when I took introductory courses in
basic mechanics, thermodynamics, control systems etc. But it was only in the higher semesters when I
took up advanced courses in Metal Cutting Machine Tool, CAD/ CAM, Automobile Engineering etc.
that I realized the true potential of this field. Since we are living in a world where technology is
revolutionizing all fields of engineering, I have completed a 20-day workshop on Application
Software Design – AutoCAD and 6-day workshop on Basic Robotics.

Excellence in a particular field is required to be at forefront of technological advancements. I

want to be one who can meet those high technological standards and achieve that degree of advancement
in field of Mechanical Engineering, which can set me ahead with a great level of confidence. Few years
from now I see myself as a highly skilled and adaptable professional. The hours of hard work that I put
in to excel in my education not only made me realize the beauty of attuning knowledge but also taught
me the perseverance to look beyond and extend my boundaries. I personally follow the saying "Unless
you try to do something beyond what you have already learnt, you will never grow”. I am aware of
the kind of dedication, perseverance and resolve I need to have for undertaking my graduate studies.
 To be abreast with latest changes in technology there can be no better place than your university.
The culture of U.S.A allows for far greater innovative and unconventional thinking with adequate
infrastructure to experiment with such ideas. I believe my background has not only qualified me
technically but also given me the right mind-set for such a career. I wish look far beyond the horizons of
present-day knowledge of computer science with a hope for better tomorrow. My faith in the US
educational system led me to decide that it is your university where I'm going to see my dreams and
aspirations turn into reality. The very fact that I am now writing my statement of purpose inspires
me into believing that I am closer to my goal.

On careful study of your website and the urge to obtain a profound understanding and
specialized knowledge in my areas of interest has made me opt for graduate studies at your university.
Your university could be the nucleus to accomplish my goals, to bring the best out of me which has a
confluence of people from several cultures, nationalities, religions, races, ideologies. I believe that
exposure to these help me broaden my concept from narrow confines of nationalism to internationalism
and share thoughts with my peer group. I look forward to carving a niche in research career, over and
above to my academic background to achieve my research goals but also make original contributions to
my field of interest. I believe that graduate studies would provide me with the opportunities to attend
advanced courses and would be the steppingstone to my career. Being the University with advanced
academic curriculum and world class research groups. I believe that it is the best environment for me to
achieve my goals while gaining experience and exposure to a diverse student body and faculty. I believe
that no other school provides students with the combination of culture, education, and research
environment, required for an overall personality development, as offered by your institution.

My coursework along with my extensive Mechanical background will allow me to function well
within the graduate program. I have many ambitions for myself as I embark on this stage of my life. I
believe that a graduate study will provide milestone in my career along with invaluable experiences and
skills that will allow me to become a successful innovative professional and gives assistance to
accomplish my goals. I look forward to being an active contributing member of the student community
in your university.
