    The music genre called disco is a
    popular style of music that emerged in
    the late 1960s in Philadelfia and New
    york, and reached its peak in the 1970s.

    It is characterized by happy and catchy


    dance rhythms, funk and soul
    influences, as well as the prominent use
    of stringed and wind instruments, and
    synthesizers.
