Materials:
Cell phone with ChatterPix Kids app (by Duck Duck Moose) downloaded
Modeling materials (cotton balls, play dough, foil, cardboard, recyclables, food, etc.)
Procedure:
1. Choose your digital model from the PowerPoint Options (Animal or Plant Cell)
2. Decide on a theme for your model related to the materials you will use (recyclables, toys, food,
etc.)
3. Create a list of
a. potential materials to represent each cell part or organelle listed for your chosen model
b. the responsibility of each cell part or organelle listed for your chosen model
4. Gather your materials
5. You are going to use the ChatterPix Kids app to make your organelles chatter (speak)!
a. To make your organelle chatter (speak)
i. Open the ChatterPix Kids App
ii. Take a photo of the material that will represent a specific cell part or organelle
iii. Use your figure to draw the location of a mouth
iv. Record a 30 second explanation of the responsibility of the specific cell part or
organelle, and why it is represented by the material you chose.
1. Examples
a. I am the ____________, and my job is to ____________. I am a
_______________ because I am _____________________.
v. Click next (yellow button in top right)
vi. Optional: add a filter, sticker, frame or text.
vii. Click next (yellow button in top right)
viii. Download the file to your phone (phone icon with down arrow)
ix. Email the file to yourself or upload to a cloud and save on your computer
b. To add your organelles to your model
i. Open the Cell Model PowerPoint.
ii. Go to your selected Model (Animal or Plant Cell)
iii. Select insert from the menu across the top.
iv. Select video (top right)
v. Select video on my PC
vi. Navigate to video
vii. Click insert
c. To move your organelle within your model
i. Click and drag the organelle to their proper locations within the cell
6. Final product will be submitted in PowerPoint form through mySAA.

7. Title should be saved as “LastNameOfStudentsInGroup Cell Model”
8. Once all items are turned in, they will be posted to the Microsoft Teams.
9. Students will investigate review each model and comment one affirmation and one question of
each cell model separately.
