questions - bio form 4

1. Reaction of Enzyme Q

a. Explain what happens during stage II

Only substrate P can fit into the active site of enzyme Q. Substrate R cannot
be catalysed by enzyme Q because it cannot fit the active site of the enzyme.
b. What is the characteristic of enzyme shown in the diagram above

The enzyme action is specific

c. Why only a small amount of enzyme Q is needed in the reaction

The same enzyme can be reused because it structure remains the same
after each reaction

d. Enzyme Q is an extracellular enzyme. Write a correct sequence of the cell

components involved in the production of enzyme Q.

Ribosome → rough endoplasmic reticulum → transport vesicle → Golgi

apparatus → secretory vesicle → plasma membrane

2. Diagram below shows the change in energy level of a reaction taking place
without a presence of enzyme

a. What will happen if enzyme is added into the reaction?

ch 5. questions - bio form 4 1

The reaction becomes faster
b. Explain

Enzymes lower the activation energy of the reaction. Thus, more reaction can
occurs at the faster rate

3 (a) The rate of reaction becomes constant. At the maximum rate, the concentration
of the substrate becomes the limiting factor.

(6) The rate of reaction increases because enzyme can catalyse more substrates
4 (a) P: 15 °C. A moderate amount of stain left indicates only certain enzymes are in
action. Some enzymes are inactive at this temperature.
