Configuration

Overview
Both the SONOS PC and SONOS system must be configured for the customer’s use.
Network configuration procedures require information from the Network Installation
Worksheet.
This section of the manual comprises the following topics:
• “D Model SONOS PC Configuration” on page 2 includes the procedures required for
all D model SONOS PCs. These are all that are needed if the D model will not commu-
nicate over a network.
• “IDI Configuration” on page 4 is an overview of configuring for network communica-
tion (the Integrated Digital Interface, or IDI function).
• “Logging On to the SONOS PC” on page 6 explains how to log on to the SONOS PC to
configure it.
• “Configuring SONOS PC For Network Communication” on page 10 contains the pro-
cedures that configure the PC for IDI.
• “Opening the Network Utility Summary Screen” on page 26 explains how to open a
screen that is used frequently in the configurations.
• “Configuring for DICOM” on page 28 contains the procedures that configure the

D Model SONOS PC Configuration

D Model SONOS PC Configuration


Preparing the D model SONOS PC for use involves only setting the clock, unless the PC will
function as an Integrated Digital Interface (IDI), or unless the PC has previously joined a
domain. Joining the SONOS PC to a domain disables the 3D autologon function, and requires
performing the procedure described in “Restore the 3D Autologon” on page 2.
To configure the D model SONOS PC for 3D only, complete “Set the D Model SONOS PC’s
Date and Time”. To configure the D model SONOS PC for both 3D and IDI operation,
complete “IDI Configuration” on page 4.
➤Set the D Model SONOS PC’s Date and Time
1. Log on to the SONOS PC, using the procedures described in “Network Configuration
Using SONOS Commands” on page 5.
2. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
NOTE If the keyboard does not have a Windows key, press Ctrl-Esc, which performs the same
function.

3. In the SONOS PC Start menu bar, double-click the clock.


4. Click the Time Zone tab. Make sure Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving
changes is checked.
5. Click the Time Zone’s list menu and select the local time zone.
6. Click the Date & Time tab and set the Month, Year, Date, and Time to the local date and
time.
7. Click OK to close the Date/Time control panel.
➤Restore the 3D Autologon

NOTE This procedure is only required if the SONOS PC has previously joined a domain, which
disables the autologon to 3D function.

1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.


2. Click All Programs, Support Tools, and double-click Restore Autologon.

3. Click Yes.
The Registry Editor window confirms that the Autologon function is restored.

IDI Configuration
Preparing the SONOS PC for IDI operations involves three tasks:
• Logging on to the SONOS PC from a PC. (page 5)
• Configuring the SONOS PC for network communication. (page 10)
• Configuring the SONOS PC for one of two types of output:
• DICOM (page 28)
• EnConcert (page 55)
If a registry backup already exists for the customer, the SONOS PC configuration data can be
restored using the RST Registry backup/restore utility. See “Backing Up the SONOS PC
Configuration” on page 151.
Configuration requires information supplied by the site Network Administrator. This
information must be entered on the Network Installation Worksheet.

Network
Configuration Using SONOS Commands
Each SONOS PC installation that communicates over a network requires configuring the
ultrasound system and the SONOS PC, using SONOS system commands entered with the
system keyboard. System commands are explained in Section 6, “SONOS System
Commands”. Configuration also uses information from the Network Installation Worksheet.

NOTES
• The Network Interface (NI) option must be enabled before SONOS PC can be used for
network communication. For DICOM, the appropriate options (DICOM Print [DP],
DICOM Storage [DS], Advanced DICOM [DM]) must also be enabled.
• All SONOS DICOM options must be disabled for SONOS PC to send DSR-TIFF format
images to EnConcert.

Configure the SONOS system for output to:


EnConcert (see page 53)
or
DICOM, any or all of the following:
• DICOM Storage (see page 34)
• Advanced DICOM, which includes the following:
• DICOM SC (see page 39)
• DICOM MWL (see page 42)
• DICOM MPPS (see page 46)
• DICOM Print (see page 49)

Logging On to the SONOS PC

Logging On to the SONOS PC


To log on to the SONOS PC, it must be connected to input devices and a monitor, either
directly, or through a separate PC.
• Logging on using a separate PC requires a null-modem serial cable, a crossover cable, or a
LAN cable, and the use of the pcAnywhere program.
• Logging on using a keyboard, monitor and mouse directly connected to the SONOS PC
does not require a separate PC or the pcAnywhere program.

NOTE Some configuration procedures cannot be performed when using a crossover cable.

Logging On Using a Keyboard, Monitor, and Mouse


You can log on to the SONOS PC by connecting a keyboard, a monitor, and a mouse (KMM)
to it. This method is required when making BIOS changes, or when the SONOS PC does not
boot properly.
➤Connect a Keyboard, Monitor, and Mouse to the SONOS PC
1. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the appropriate connectors at the rear of the SONOS
PC.
2. Connect the monitor to the VGA video connector at the rear of the SONOS PC.
Refer to Figure 10-1 on page 211 or Figure 10-2 on page 212 to locate these connectors.

NOTE You can also force the SONOS system monitor to show the PC’s display, so that you do not
need a separate monitor. The following procedure works on SONOS 7500 and some SONOS
5500 systems.

➤Displaying the PC on the SONOS System Monitor


This procedure works on SONOS 7500 and some SONOS 5500 systems.

1. Press Test .

2. Select Other Tests & Utilities, and press Enter .


3. Select VGA Display Path Test, and press Enter
The system monitor shows the SONOS PC display.

Logging On Using a Separate PC


➤Connect the SONOS PC and PC
When using a PC to log on to the SONOS PC, the PC and SONOS PC must be connected by a
serial cable, a crossover cable, or a LAN cable.

Preferred method: Connect using a serial cable


1. Connect a 9-pin NULL Modem cable or a File Transfer serial cable to the serial port on
the PC.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the COM 1 port on the SONOS PC (see Figure 10-1
on page 211 or Figure 10-2 on page 212 to locate COM 1.)

Optional method: Connect using a LAN cable (hub connection)


1. Connect a LAN cable to the PC’s network connector.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to an available hub on the customer’s LAN network.
The SONOS PC should already be connected to the LAN network.
3. Input an IP address.
Detailed steps to perform this procedure are at the end of this chapter. See “Configuring
the pcAnywhere Connection on a PC” on page 72.

Optional method: Connect using a crossover cable (point-to-point


connection)

NOTE You cannot join a domain while using a crossover cable, but the method is useful for
troubleshooting.

To connect the SONOS PC and a PC using a crossover cable:


1. Connect a crossover cable to the PC’s network connector.
2. Connect the other end of the crossover cable to the SONOS PC’s LAN connector.
➤Log on to the SONOS PC using pcAnywhere
When the SONOS PC and PC are connected, you can log on to SONOS PC from the PC:
1. Turn on the PC, then turn on the SONOS system.
Wait for the SONOS PC to finish booting up.
2. Log on to the PC.

3. Click Start, Programs, and Symantec pcAnywhere.

The pcAnywhere program launches.


4. Click the Remote Control button on the pcAnywhere toolbar.
5. Double-click either:
• The Direct icon for a serial connection
or
• The Network icon for a LAN connection
pcAnywhere establishes a connection with SONOS PC and displays the pcAnywhere Host
Logon dialog box.

6. Enter “DUNEUSER” in both the Username: and Password: fields. The password must
be uppercase.
The remote PC displays the SONOS PC’s Windows screen, overlaid on its own.
7. Log on to the SONOS PC by clicking the CAD button on the pcAnywhere toolbar (see
Figure 6).

NOTE Although the Begin Logon message box says “Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to log on,” DO NOT
press Ctrl-Alt-Del. Doing so will not log you on.

Log on by clicking the CAD button on the pcAnywhere toolbar. Clicking the CAD button
sends the appropriate command to the SONOS PC.

8. Type “DUNEUSER” (all capital letters) in both the Username: and Password: fields, and
click OK.

NOTES
• Always log on as DUNEUSER or DOMAIN/DUNEUSER. If you log on as something else,
the system may not automatically send studies when used for portable exams.
• Installing the SONOS PC software using the ghost image process automatically loads the
DUNEUSER and Administrator accounts.

NOTE If an error message indicates an unsuccessful logon, press Caps Lock and type
DUNEUSER in the User name: and Password: fields again.

9. If only one Start menu task bar appears at the bottom of the pcAnywhere window, click
the resizing button on the pcAnywhere menu bar, then click the Full Screen button on the
pcAnywhere toolbar (see Figure 8).

The PC displays two Start menu task bars (see Figure 9):
• The task bar in the pcAnywhere window is the SONOS PC’s Start menu bar, which is used
for the rest of this configuration procedure.
• The lower bar is the PC’s Start menu bar.

NOTE You must have a pcAnywhere user account for full control of its features. For more
information about using pcAnywhere, refer to your pcAnywhere user documentation.

Configuring SONOS PC For Network


Communication
To communicate with a server, the SONOS PC must be configured for network
communication, then configured for either DICOM or EnConcert servers.
All of the values and settings in these procedures are taken from the Network Installation
Worksheet. You must be logged on to the SONOS PC from a PC, or with a keyboard, monitor,
and mouse connected to the SONOS PC, to perform these procedures. (See“Log on to the
SONOS PC using pcAnywhere” on page 7.)
Configuring the SONOS PC for network communication is a typical networking procedure.
For help with networking problems or advanced network configurations, refer to the Microsoft
Knowledge Base.

NOTE The SONOS PC requires that its clock be reasonably synchronized with the SONOS system
clock. Both clocks must be checked or set during the SONOS PC installation.

➤Set the SONOS PC clock


1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. In the SONOS PC Start menu bar, double-click the clock.
3. Click the Time Zone tab. Make sure Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving
changes is checked.
4. Click the Time Zone’s list menu and select the local time zone.
5. Click the Date & Time tab and set the Month, Year, Date, and Time to the local date and
time.
6. Click OK to close the Date/Time control panel.

NOTE The SONOS PC uses an IP address either obtained from a DHCP server, or manually entered
now. Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet for the required configurations, and
complete the applicable procedure.
• If the network uses DHCP, proceed to “Configure for a DHCP server” on page 12.
or
• If the network uses a static IP address, proceed to “Configure a static IP address” on page 13

➤Configure for a DHCP server


1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. Click All Programs, Support Tools and Network Properties.

4. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.

5. Click Obtain an IP address automatically, and Obtain DNS server address


automatically, so their radio buttons are selected
6. Click OK to close the window.
➤Configure a static IP address
Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet.
1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. Click All Programs, Support Tools and Network Properties.
The Network Connections screen displays.
3. Double-click Local Connection.
The Local Area Connections Properties window opens.
4. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window opens.
5. Click Use the following IP address:.

6. Enter the information from the Installation worksheet in the appropriate fields.
7. Click OK, and click Close.

➤Join a Windows workgroup

NOTE All EnConcert installations use a domain, while most DICOM installations use a workgroup.

Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet.


1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. Click All Programs, Support Tools, and System Properties.
The System Properties window opens
3. Click the Computer Name tab.
4. Click Change....
The Computer Name Changes window opens.
5. Click Workgroup:.
6. In the Workgroup: field, enter the workgroup name from the Installation Worksheet.
7. Click OK to close the Computer Name Changes window.
➤Join a Windows domain
Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet.

NOTE If the SONOS PC and a PC are connected with a crossover cable, you cannot join a domain.

1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.


2. Click All Programs, Support Tools, and System Properties.
The System Properties window opens
3. Click the Computer Name tab.
4. Click Change....
The Computer Name Changes window opens.
5. Click Domain: (see Figure 29 on page 24.)
6. In Domain: field, type the domain name from the Installation Worksheet.
7. Click OK to close the Computer Name Changes window.
A dialog box opens, asking for the domain administrator’s password.
8. Enter the password in the field of the dialog box., and click OK.
9. Click OK to close the System Properties window.
A message box opens, asking if you want to reboot.
10. Click Yes.
The computer reboots.
11. When the SONOS PC restarts, click Options in the log on dialog box.
12. Click the Log on to: list, and select the local computer in the list.
13. In the User name: and Password fields, enter DUNEUSER

14. Click OK.

NOTE Joining a domain disables the autologon to 3D function. If you are configuring a D model
SONOS PC, perform the following procedure to restore the autologon function. If you are
configuring a C model SONOS PC, skip to “Configure the domain name system (DNS) (if
applicable)” on page 17, or “Configure the Windows internet name service (WINS) (if
applicable)” on page 18.

➤Restore the 3D Autologon


1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. Click All Programs, Support Tools, and double-click Restore Autologon.

3. Click Yes.
The Registry Editor window confirms that the Autologon function is restored.

4. Click OK.

5. Restart the SONOS PC.


➤Configure the domain name system (DNS) (if applicable)
Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet. If the SONOS PC will use DNS, complete the
following procedure:
1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. Click All Programs, Support Tools and Network Properties. (See Figure 10 on
page 12)
The Network Connections screen displays. (See Figure 11 on page 12.)
3. In the Network Connections screen, double-click Local Connection.
The Local Area Connection Status window opens.
4. Click Properties.
The Local Area Connections window opens. (See Figure 12 on page 12.)
5. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window opens. (See Figure 13 on page 13.)
6. Click Advanced...
The Advanced TCP/IP Settings window opens.

7. Click the DNS tab.


8. Click Add.
The TCP/IP DNS Server window opens.

9. Enter the DNS server address from the Installation Worksheet in the window’s field, and
click Add.
The TCP/IP DNS Server window closes.
10. To add additional DNS servers, repeat step 8 and step 9.
11. Click OK to close the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window.
➤Configure the Windows internet name service (WINS) (if applicable)
Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet.
If the SONOS PC will use WINS, complete the following procedure:
1. In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, click the WINS tab.

2. Click Add.
The TCP/IP WINS Server window opens.

3. Enter the WINS server address in the WINS server: field.


4. Click Add.
The TCP/IP WINS Server window closes.
5. If an LMHOSTS file will be used, continue to “Configure the LMHOSTS file (If
applicable)” on page 20. If no LMHOSTS will be used, click OK to close the TCP/IP
Advanced Settings window, and proceed to “Configure the network adaptor card for best
performance (if needed)” on page 21.

➤Configure the LMHOSTS file (If applicable)


Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet.
If the SONOS PC will use an LMHOSTS file, complete the following procedure:
1. In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window (see Figure 18 on page 17), click the WINS
tab.

2. If the network administrator has provided an LMHOST file on disk, insert the disk in the
appropriate drive.
3. Click Enable LMHOSTS lookup.
4. If DHCP is not used, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, so the button is selected.
5. Click Import LMHOSTS....
The Open window opens.

6. Click the drive that contains the LMHOST file, and click Open.
The Open window closes.
7. In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, click Add.
The TCP/IP WINS Server window opens.

8. Enter the WINS server’s IP address, from the Installation Worksheet.


9. Click OK to close the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window.
10. Shut down and restart the SONOS PC.
11. When the SONOS PC restarts, click Options in the log on dialog box.
12. Click the Log on to: list, and select the local computer in the list.
13. In the User name: and Password fields, enter DUNEUSER
14. Click OK.
➤Configure the network adaptor card for best performance (if needed)

NOTE The default settings of AutoDetect for Duplex and Speed may not be appropriate for the
network. Consult the network Administrator for the best configuration.

2. Click All Programs, Support Tools and Network Properties. (See Figure 10 on
page 12)
The Network Connections screen displays. (See Figure 11 on page 12.)
3. In the Network Connections screen, double-click Local Area Connection.
The Local Area Connections Properties window opens. (See Figure 12 on page 12.)
4. In the Local Area Connections Properties window, click Configure.
The Server Adapter Properties window opens.

5. Click the Advanced tab.


6. In the Property: list, click Link Speed & Duplex.
7. Click the Value: menu, and select the value specified in the Installation Worksheet.
8. Click OK.
➤Restart the SONOS PC to enable the configurations
• Close all dialog boxes and restart the SONOS PC.
➤Verify the network connection
1. Click Start and Run.

2. Type cmd and click OK to access DOS.


3. At the C:\ prompt, type PING (IP address), where (IP address) is the IP address of the
server you are connecting to.

4. Verify that the connection is successful.


5. Type C:\ PING (server name).
6. Verify that the connection is successful.
➤Change the SONOS PC’s computer name
Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet. The SONOS PC’s computer is identified by a
computer name, and sometimes a workgroup or domain name (depending on the type of
network). The SONOS PC’s computer name must be unique on the network.
To change the SONOS PC’s computer name:
1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
NOTE If the keyboard does not have a Windows key, press Ctrl-Esc, which performs the same
function.

2. Click All Programs, Support Tools, and System Properties.

3. Click the Computer Name tab. (See Figure 28.)

4. Click Change....
The Computer Name Changes window opens.

5. Enter the computer’s new name (from the worksheet, less than 16 characters).
6. Click OK to enter the new name.

NOTE If a dialog box appears requesting a user name and password, you must enter an administrator
password for the local computer.

A dialog box may open, asking if you want to reboot.


7. Reboot the SONOS PC.

➤Set the SONOS system clock to the local date and time
1. Press Setup .

2. On the right touch screen, tap SYSTEM.


3. Use the HOUR and MINUTE rotary controls to set the SONOS clock to the same time as
the SONOS PC clock. (See “Set the SONOS PC clock” on page 11.)

End of Configuring SONOS PC For Network Communication. Proceed to either:

Many of the procedures that follow include operations performed in the Network Utility
Summary screen. The following procedure opens the screen. It is referred to in those sections
that use the screen.

Configuring for DICOM


Both the SONOS PC and the SONOS system must be configured for communication with a
DICOM server. Complete “Configuring SONOS PC For Network Communication” on
page 10 before beginning these procedures.
To verify DICOM communication, the SONOS PC must be connected to the network.

NOTE The SONOS PC is configured for DSR at the factory; it must be reconfigured with the
procedures below before use with DICOM.

➤Change the network format
SONOS PC is configured for DSR communication at the factory. You must change the
Network format setting from DSR to DICOM and reboot the system before setting the server
name.
1. Open the Network Utility Summary screen as described on page 26.
2. On the command line, type NETWORK, a space, and DICOM, then press ↵ .
3. Cycle the system power off, then on, and wait for the SONOS PC to finish booting up.
The SONOS system is set to use DICOM communication protocol.
➤Log on to the SONOS PC
Refer to “Logging On to the SONOS PC” on page 6.
1. In the log on dialog box, click Options.
2. Click the Log on to: list, and select the PC name in the list.
3. In the User name: and Password fields, enter DUNEUSER
4. Click OK.

NOTE This DUNEUSER account referred to here is not a workgroup or domain account; it is a local
account on the SONOS PC. (EnConcert domains use another DUNEUSER account.)

➤Disable AutoExNT

NOTE AutoExNT must be disabled for DICOM communications.

➤Confirm the IDI_DICOM service settings

NOTES
• The NETWORK command automatically sets the parameters described here when
NETWORK: DICOM is entered. (See “NETWORK [DICOM|DSR]” on page 170.) The
procedure that follows confirms that the settings are correct.
• When powered up, the system checks the Registry to determine whether the DUNE service
or the IDI_DICOM service is used. The first time the network service is changed, the
SONOS system display shows a warning:
“Note: SONOS configuration options must match Network format.”

1. In the Services window (Figure 33, on page 29), double-click IDI_DICOM in the list.

2. Click the Startup Type: menu, and select Automatic.


3. Click Apply.
4. Click the Log On tab, and confirm that the This Account button is selected.

The DUNEUSER account is added, and the password is set.
➤Verify the server domain
1. Open the Network Utility Summary screen as described on page 26.
2. Verify that the domain name is listed correctly.

➤Change the SONOS PC’s AE title (Application Entity title)


Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet. The default IDI AE title is IDI_PCNAME. If the
worksheet calls for another AE title, perform steps 1 and 2 below.
1. On the Network Utility Summary screen’s command line, type AETITLE, followed by a
space and the SONOS PC’s AE title from the worksheet.
Example: AETITLE IDI_IDI_9108

NOTE The AE title is case sensitive; enter it exactly as shown on the Installation Worksheet.

2. Press ↵ .
“AETITLE set to...” appears.
To correct a mistake, repeat steps 1 and 2 to add the SONOS PC AE title; the new name
automatically replaces the old name.
3. Reboot the SONOS PC.
Changes take effect after you reboot the system.

The procedures in this section configure the SONOS system for sending captured images to a
DICOM storage server. All values and settings are from the Network Installation Worksheet.
Complete “Configuring for DICOM” on page 28 before beginning this procedure.
In “DICOM SCP,” SCP stands for Service Class Provider.
Using commands
When entering commands, you can use abbreviated commands by typing the first letters that
are unique to the command.
To display detailed information about a command, including its expected syntax, use Help:

2. Verify that Network Intr.: is set to DICOM, with one or all of S, M, or P after DICOM.
(S stands for DICOM Store, M stands for Advanced DICOM, and P stands for DICOM
Print.)
If the required options do not display, you must install them.

NOTE If there are untransferred studies on the hard drive, you may have to flush the queue. See
“FLUSHQUEUE” on page 164.

➤Enter the client’s DICOM storage SCP server information
Refer to the Network Installation Worksheet.

NOTE The DICOM SCP server may already be configured. If it is, proceed to “Choose the DICOM
Storage SCP server” on page 37.

1. Use the trackball to place the cursor in the command line, and type ADDSERVER
followed by a space.
2. On the same line, type a label for the client’s storage SCP server, followed by a space.
This label is used to associate an alias name to the client’s storage SCP server; any
combination of alphanumeric characters is OK.
3. On the same line, type the SCP server’s host name (network name) or IP address, followed
by a space.
4. On the same line, type the SCP server’s port number, followed by a space.
5. On the same line, type the SCP server’s AE title (Application Entity title.
The SCP server’s AE title is case sensitive; enter it exactly as shown on the Network
Installation Worksheet.

NOTE If the network response is slow, for example if the Internet is used as the network, you may
have to enter a response timeout value. This is not usually necessary, as the default timeout
works well unless communications are very slow.

6. To enter a response timeout value:


• If the storage SCP server’s response timeout value is available, type the value in seconds on
the same line. Press ↵ .
or
• If the storage SCP server’s response timeout is not available, press ↵ .
The system uses a 30-minute default response timeout.
“ADDSERVER <(label)> added” appears at the top of the screen.
7. To verify that the server is added correctly, type LISTSERVERS in the command line and
press ↵ .
The newly added server appears in the Listserver screen.

➤Correct errors in the server information
If the server name or other information does not appear on the Listserver screen as you expect,
you must delete the incorrect server definition and replace it with the desired server definition.
To replace a server:
1. From the Listserver screen, find the label of the server that you want to remove.
2. On the command line, type DELSERVER followed by a space and the label of the server
that you want to remove. Press ↵ .
3. Repeat “Enter the client’s DICOM storage SCP server information” on page 36 to
correctly add the server.
➤Choose the DICOM Storage SCP server
Configure the DICOM server you want the SONOS PC to send image files to:
1. On the command line, type SERVER, followed by a space and the label of the server to
receive image files from the SONOS PC.
This is the label entered in “Enter the client’s DICOM storage SCP server information” on
page 36. The LISTSERVERS command displays the available server labels.

NOTE Entering NONE for the server label disables network storage.

2. Press ↵ .

5. On the same line, type the SCP server’s Port Number, followed by a space.
6. On the same line, type the SCP server’s AE title (Application Entity title. Press ↵ .
The SCP server’s AE title is case sensitive; enter it exactly as shown on the Network
Installation Worksheet.

7. To verify that the server is added correctly, type LISTSERVERS in the command line and

The newly added server appears in the Listserver screen.

If the server name you expected does not appear on the Listserver screen, you must delete the
incorrect server and replace it with the desired server.
To replace a server:
1. From the Listserver screen, find the label of the server that you want to remove.
2. On the command line, type DELSERVER followed by a space and the label of the server
that you want to remove. Press ↵ .
3. Repeat “Enter the client’s DICOM MPPS server information” on page 46 to correctly add
the server.

NOTE The SONOS PC’s AE title was configured in “Change the SONOS PC’s AE title (Application
Entity title)” on page 33. You do not need to repeat the configuration.

➤Choose the DICOM MPPS server

NOTE The DICOM MPPS server label may already be configured. If it is, enter the MPPSSERVER
command. (See “MPPSSERVER” on page 168).

Configure the SONOS PC for the customer’s printers


All the values entered in these steps are typed into the command line of the Network Utility
Summary screen.

NOTE Configuring parameters in the Network Installation Worksheet is required only if they differ
from the defaults. The exceptions are the printer server labels, which must always be entered.

Table 1-2 lists the printer commands used to configure the SONOS PC for the customer’s
printers. Refer to Table 6-3 on page 171, and the explanations that follow Table 6-3, for more
information on the commands.

a few seconds at the lower left corner of the imaging screen.
2. Press Test , and select Other Tests & Utilities. Press Enter .
The Other Tests and Utilities screen displays.
3. Select Options. Press Enter .
The Modify Options window opens.
4. On the left-hand menu, select Applications.
5. On the right-hand menu, deselect DICOM Print, DICOM Store, and DICOM MWL.
6. Click OK twice.
➤Change the network format
If the SONOS PC was used for DICOM previously, you must change the network format to
DSR.
1. Open the Network Utility Summary screen, as described on page 26.
2. On the command line, type NETWORK DSR, and press ↵ .

The following pcAnywhere configuration sets a remote PC to connect to the SONOS PC using
a network connection.
This method works when either:
• The PC and SONOS PC are connected to the same network, and the SONOS PC’s IP
address subnet mask is the same as the network’s subnet mask.
or
• The PC and SONOS PC are connected as peer-to-peer using a “crossover” network cable,
and the SONOS PC’s IP address subnet mask is the same as the PC’s subnet mask.
or
• The PC and SONOS PC are directly connected using a null-modem cable between their
serial ports.
To configure pcAnywhere on the PC:
1. Log on to the PC.
2. On the Start menu bar, click Start, Programs, and Symantec pcAnywhere.
3. On the pcAnywhere menu bar, click the Remote Control icon.
4. Right click the Network icon, and choose Properties.
5. Click the Connection Info tab. Make sure TCP/IP is selected.

6. Click the Settings tab. Leave the Network host PC to control or IP Address field blank.
Click OK.
7. Double-click the Network icon to initiate a connection to the SONOS PC.

SONOS PC
Installing the SONOS PC software using the Ghost image process automatically configures
pcAnywhere V. 10.5 on the SONOS PC. To confirm or restore the configuration, use the
following procedure.

NOTE For detailed information on using or configuring pcAnywhere, click Help on the pcAnywhere
menu bar.

To check the configuration of pcAnywhere on the SONOS PC:
1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
NOTE If the keyboard does not have a Windows key, press Ctrl-Esc, which performs the same
function.

2. Click All Programs and Symantec pcAnywhere.

3. Click Hosts
4. Right click the Network icon, and choose Properties.

5. Click the Connection Info tab. Make sure COM1 and TCP/IP are checked.
6. Highlight COM1 and click Details....

The COM1 window closes.

9. In the Host Properties window, click the Settings tab, and confirm that the settings are as
shown in Figure 38.

10. Click the Callers tab.
a. To add a user, click New.
b. To modify the DUNEUSER properties, double-click DUNEUSER,
and modify the properties in the dialog box that opens.
11. Click the Security Options tab, and confirm that the settings are as shown in Figure 39.

12. Click the Conference tab, and make sure nothing in the window is selected.
13. Click the Protect Item tab, and make sure the Password field is blank.

14. Click OK.


The Host Properties window closes.
15. In the pcAnywhere Manager window’s menu bar, click Tools, and select Options.

Checking and Correcting Drive Letter


Assignments
The following procedure describes how to check the drive letter assignments and change the
assignments if they are incorrect.
➤Check and Change Drive Letter Assignments
1. On the keyboard, press the Windows key !.
2. Click All Programs, select Support Tools, and click MMC (Computer Management).
The Computer Management window opens.
3. In the left pane, open Storage, and click Disk Management. (See Figure 43 on page 78.)
The right-hand pane of the window shows the drives and their assigned letters.
4. Scroll down the display in the lower part of the right-hand pane to see all the drive letter
assignments.

5. If a drive letter is wrong, click it in the upper part of the right-hand pane.
6. Click Action
The Action menu drops down
7. Select All Tasks, and click Change Drive Letter and Paths....
