CORE MATERIAL WEEK 2

MODULE # 1(UNIT 1)

Theme: Active Citizenship

Topic: “Volunteering”

Objective: Analyse problems in our communities and discuss the

implications of becoming volunteers to be active participants in the
solutions for such problems.

WARM-UP / GRAMMAR REVIEW- IMPERATIVE TENSE

You can use the imperative form to give an order, to give a warning or advice, and (if
you use “please”) to make a request.

To make the imperative, use the infinitive of the verb without ‘to’:

(to come) = “Come here!” (to sit) = “Sit down!”

To make a negative imperative, put “do not” or “don’t” before the verb:

(to not go) = “Don’t go!” (to not walk) = “Do not walk on the grass.”

VOCABULARY: GIVING HELP

Active Citizenship

What does it mean to be a good citizen?

Use the imperative to create 2 suggestions for what people
