Project Management Assignment

Introduction

The article by Blomquist et al. (2010) affirms that project studies are still in the infancy

stage with most of the research still issuing insubstantial findings on comprehending what

happens in most projects. Hence, the main purpose of the study is to expand knowledge about

project management that matters a lot to the academic discourse through staging project-as-

practice techniques. The proposed techniques helps in aligning ongoing g social science debates

and studies on matters of project managements. Additionally, it posits the frameworks and

arguments that affirms the existence of primary challenges for the research and the possible

solutions. The article also outlined the practice approach in project management that ensures

development of such related project approaches, studies, or debates that matters. Above all, the

thesis statement for this study is that a compelling debates for a robust practice-based approach

should exists in project management research to offer an in-depth comprehension of the

challenges and complexities of project management.

2. Body of the Journal

The systematic literature review is organized in a flowing manner that identifies the vital

points that single effective project-as-practice technique applicable in varied project management

studies. The flowing literature provides more integrated and comprehensive ideologies of project

management research, whose authors based them on realistic practices. Besides, the project-as-

practice approaches appreciates that project management constitutes social practices whose

influences are derived from numerous elements that includes the application of standardized

processes and techniques. The project-as-practice constitutes implications like the need for
project supervisors for it to be more adaptive and reflective of the changing project management

practices.

Additionally, the journal affirms the essence of using project-as-practice techniques in

project management studies. The researchers are able to adopt and capture the complex and

nuance nature of activities revolving around project management; this leads to a more applicable

and usable study findings. Besides, Blomquist et al. (2010) agrees that project management

studies should identify the challenges faced by project managers like conflicts of interests

between shareholders, organization’s management challenges, and also differing power relations.

When studies do so, they are able to enlighten the public about the struggles of project managers

who operates in dynamic and sophisticated environments to ensure that the project objectives are

met on time.

1. Proposed Solution/Changes:

Blomquist et al. (2010) did a critical analysis of their findings and proposed the following

solution to the complex nature of project management: adoption of project-as-practice in project

management practices and studies. Besides, project-as-practice affirms that studies should

narrow to examining projects as they happen in the practice instead of depending on theoretical

studies published online. As such, the studies and researchers are able to bridge the existing

differences between practical and academic project management works; this makes the research

rigorous, substantive, and ideal for practical and realistic world.

Strong evidence supports project-as-practice including what we did in class, theoretical

studies, and empirical research I have evaluated. Besides, project-as-practice notes several

benefits including learning, collaboration, and information sharing amongst studies and project
managers. Also the journal enhanced its affirmation using theories like organizational behavior

to affirm how practice-based approach assists in revealing the cultural dynamics of project

management works, practices, and studies.

Practice-based approach shows effective outcome despite exhibiting potential challenges in

project management. Implementing the approach needs multiple changes in an ongoing project

even in project management studies; this is time inefficient for most researchers or managers.

Hence, not all people appreciates practice-based approach because of the time it needs to ensure

that is appropriately applied. Also, practice-based approach needs skills and experiences that are

not equipped by everyone for proper implication. However, the general knowledge of practice-

based approach as demonstrated by the journal is that it is worthwhile and needed to ensure an

effective project management studies and also organization change. The importance of practice-

based approach aligns with the ongoing trends in project management and it benefits researchers

and project managers. Therefore, an organization that opts to shift to practice-based approach

tends to be more effective and ideal for the project management team and researchers entirely.

Lastly, the advantages of practice-based approach in project management practices and studies

are well supported by my extensive research.

1. Conclusion and Recommendations

In summary, the journal has provided insights into effective application of practice-based

approach to ensure that both studies and practical implications of practice-based approach are

well achieved. In other words, it has ensured that it provides information that relates to practice-

based approach in project management and proved that they matter through their extensive

literature review. So be investigating the actual practices of project management, researchers can

obtain actual information that is insightful for their overall results/projects.

This writing piece recommends that project managers and researchers should work closely to

pinpoint the appropriate methodological that can help improve the field of project management.

They should also work closely to ensure that they undertake educational and training programs

together to improve the efficiencies of practice-based approaches. Despite needing a lot of

resources, collaborations, and time, their close interaction is instrumental for the whole field of

project management.
