During the pandemic outbreak, the world witnessed that all plans and objectives failed.
During this period, the leadership styles were also challenged and several key leaders
were unable to deliver with the ordinary leadership style. Having said that during the
pandemic, the managerial and operational structure of the corporate sector has
changed. In your opinion, which leadership style is more suitable during the Covid-19
situation? Also, propose the leadership style that will be appropriate for the corporate
sector after the pandemic. Your answer should be well elaborated, justified with proper
arguments and evidence.

We live in a dynamic environment where changes occur frequently. It’s a fact that
recently the pandemic of COVID-19 has disrupted our lives. Same as other disruptive
forces its impact was threatening and unexpected. It has changed what business
leadership looks like, now and in the foreseeable future.

In my point of view, the Autocratic leadership style might be suitable in some cases.


Because, it’s a fact that employees are not always open to change, but in such pandemic
situations there is a need for quick decisions and if employees are not cooperating in
such circumstances this might lead to the failure of businesses or organizations. So in
such situations, managers need to use their autocratic leadership style as their powerful
entity and need to impose decisions in order to tweak with situations.  

Also, propose the leadership style that will be appropriate for the corporate
sector after the pandemic

Smart leaders would tweak their strategies to a new work environment created by
COVID-19. Leading a business after the pandemic would not only need to change your
management methods but also your mindset. According to my opinion, the Democratic
leadership style needs to be imposed after the pandemic. As the democratic leadership
style involves other employees in the decision-making process, this would be easier for a
leader to make decisions through brainstorming and other methods, and also it will give
a sense of affiliation to employees to take interest in their activities back.  A leader needs
to emphasize the following practices:

 As there was less interaction between the teams, so leaders need to prioritize the
model of strong communication and trust their guidance. So, Leaders need to
inform employees about their new policies. And involve employees to have a
voice in major company decisions.
 Moreover, Leaders need to make sure that, their employees know what are they
doing and why?
 Leaders need to keep an eye on the future. Employees should be aware of new
changes.
According to the study of (2020) conducted during the COVID-19 in Indonesia, found
that Democratic leadership style and autocratic leadership style have significant effects
on Small and medium enterprises.
