WRITING QUIZ

Topic 1: Some people believe that it’s wrong to keep

animals in captivity in zoos. Others think zos do
valuable conservation work while allowing the public to
see usual or endangered animals.
What do you think, any why? Write a balanced argument, giving
your opinion.
You could add these points:
• whether you think it’s better to see animals in the wild or in zoos
• you own experience of seeing animals in different environments
• your own ideas about animals

Topic 2: Video games are one of the main stimuli that

increase violence and aggression among kids and teens.
Write a persuasive article, including your own opinion on
that topic.

Topic 3: Your head teacher has recently expressed the view

that taking more than one P.E session is a waste of time.

Write a letter to your head teacher, giving your opinion on

taking P.E sessions at school, persuading them to change their
view.
 You could include some of the following points in your letter:

• The advantages of P.E sessions

• The disadvantages of too many P.E sessions – if you think
there are any.
• why the school should increase the duration and sessions of
P.E.

Topic 4: Write a letter to a friend, telling them about a

new interest you have taken up. Try to convince them to take
up your interest too.

You will need to include:

• what the interest is, e.g. sport, music, acting, etc.
• why you relish this interest.
• how your friend might get involved.

Topic 5: ………….. is the best sport to watch and

play. Write a persuasive writing, convincing readers
with your point of view of why that sport specifically is
the best.
You could include:
• what makes this sport the best
• what are some benefits of watching or playing this sport
• why they should also start enjoying such a sport
