B. Establishing the purpose There are three kinds of writing techniques: informative, persuasive,

D. Discussing new A critique is a genre of academic writing that briefly summarizes and
concepts and critically evaluates a work or concept. Critiques can be used to carefully

skills writing style and has a clear structure, that is, an introduction, body and
conclusion.

(use going to not gonna, want to not wanna, kind of not kinda,
etc).

cite the sources of your evidences. (example: Experts believe
that the vaccine will be available by 2021.)
3. Present your ideas logically
a. Observe the principles of coherence and cohesion (use of
transition, correct pronoun antecedent, use of synonym) which
were already presented
4. Deconstruct the work
a. Think of other possible meaning of the line or sentence.
Example: When you read a line “After experiencing so many
difficulties, he finally gets the rose” you simply cannot say that
the ‘rose’ being referred in the line is ‘love’ because apart from
love, rose could also mean another thing. In the given example,
rose is used to mean success.
