Exercise Drill of container inspection

Purpose:

To protect against the introduction of unauthorized material and/or persons into containers
with following preventive measures are prescribed.

Scope:

Nishat Bath Division

Overview:

Mill’s Security & Logistic Department protects against the introduction of unauthorized
material and/or persons into containers. Security Department also verifies the physical
integrity of container structure prior to stuffing, including the reliability of the locking
mechanisms of the doors. U.S. Customs seven-point inspection process is recommended
for all containers. The factory has also a written procedure for seal verification that includes
use of the VVTT process after loading container and prior to container departing factory.

V – View seal and container locking mechanisms; ensure they are OK;
V – Verify seal number against shipment documents for accuracy;
T – Tug on seal to make sure it is affixed properly;
T – Twist and turn the bolt seal to make sure its components do not unscrew or separate
from one another.

Exercise Drill Summary:

The exercise is conducted in order to check & track that personnel is well aware from all the
security parameters. For this purpose, we have placed a wooden log into the empty
container at the gate entrance by the security guard Mr. Rafique & closed the container.
The container is sent to the loading bay where the 7-point inspection is carried out by
Logistic Personnel named as Mr. Ashraf. The container was completely checked from the
inside, outside, ceiling, door, floors & other points as well. A wooden log was caught by the
Logistic member & was immediately reported in the inspection checklist as well as the Head
of Department. The departmental head was informed earlier about the drill so that the
container can’t send back to the transport service provider.

In case the Departmental Head is not informed about the activity, then the query will
proceed according to given below protocols/corrective action.

Corrective Action Plan :

1-The Security In charge & Logistic personnel refused to accept the empty container and it
is immediately removed from the factory grounds and returned to the forwarder.
2-Export Department is also duly informed immediately by the Security In charge.
3-The Export Department then contacts the forwarder and advice that the empty container
failed the 7-Point Empty Container Inspection and to deliver another empty container.
4-The forwarder then delivers a new empty container to Nishat Mills Limited while repeating
the same procedure as mentioned above.
