COOLING TOWER PARTS AND PIPING MATERIALS

LIFTING METHODOLOGY

CARGO INFORMATION:
1(One) Lot knock down parts of cooling tower, structural beam for foundation and piping
materials to be delivered via large truck.

SITE SURVEY INFORMATION:


- Cemented ground (Road side area)
- Roof deck MAB bldg. St. Lukes Hospital Global City Taguig City

SCOPE OF WORKS:
Preparation of Lifting Equipment and Basket, Parts unloading to truck, Lifting of Parts
(@approximate weight of 3 Tons max per lift), to be lifted from ground level to Roof deck.

1. Provisions to unload parts from the trucks and load the said parts to the lifting
basket to be lifted from ground level to the roof deck of the MAB bldg. Manpower
will load the parts to the basket and other personnel is position to unload it on the
roof deck.
2. Proposed Equipment to be used will be a 40t crane, and assistance of manpower
with complete rigging tools and lifting gears.
3. Two (2) lanes of fifth ave. will be closed on the time of lifting works.
4. Lifting works will start before rush hour approximately 5am, to prevent the activity
hindering the traffic.
5. The lifting team will provide 2 traffic controller that will control the flow of traffic at
the 5th ave.
6. Isolation of the area with caution tape and early warning devices.
GENERAL METHODOLOGY:
Introduction
This methodology will show the operational handling for the Unloading of parts and
materials of the cooling tower from the truck, after unloading parts are to be placed in the
lifting basket and lifted to the roof deck of the MAB bldg., and to be received and placed
accordingly by other personnel positioned on the roof deck.
The sub-contractor and client must always re-check, re-inspect and re- survey the area or
location of the cooling tower parts to be positioned. It includes all vertical, horizontal, power
electrical cables & wires, underground pit, basement, access ways and doors, floor or soil
elevation conditions, obstruction that may hinder or affect the activity schedules, with
regards to the allotted time for the activity.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
During pre-lift

 Inspection of site is conducted before lifting is performed


 Barricade or caution tape is placed around the perimeter.
 Ground where the crane is position should be leveled and secured.
 Outriggers are properly extended and sit on secured ground.
 Crane should be leveled.
 Job hazard analysis must be completed before start of work
 Lifting plan must be checked by the site safety rep. and client rep.
During lifting

 Parts to be lifted is placed in level and secured ground


 Rigger must be present on site.
 Operator must be in good condition before the start and during the lifting
 Lifting belt and other connections to the parts to be lifted must be
checked thoroughly and double checked by the supervisor before lifting.
 Communication to other parties and contractors around the site must
be applied before, during and after the lifting.
 Wind condition must be in a safe zone before proceeding to the lifting.
 Hooker must be wearing full body harness and secured into the
lifeline.
After lifting

 Debris and other unwanted things must be clear and apply proper
housekeeping
 Outriggers is retracted properly; cribbing is properly removed in place
and secure properly in storage.
 Warning or caution tape is removed and properly disposed after the
activity.
CARGO CONDITION:
The cargo may be lifted on typical lifting point procedure, lifting eye where we placed
shackle on both ends or on the proposed lifting point of the cargo.

SITE CONDITION:
Site condition is also a great factor. Access leading to working areas for rigging and
Positioning, maneuvering, horizontal and vertical clearances, obstruction and other access
hindrances or improvement are yet to consider. Client must secure necessary permit such
as barangay permit or road closure permit before the lifting activities will be executed

SITE PREPARATION PRIOR TO THE WORKS:


- Site re-checking upon arrival at project site must be re-surveyed and inspected to
compare
latest condition compared to the previous or initial survey conducted. Purpose of which is
to immediately come up with an option on how works can be carried out based on the
present condition.
- Re-check ground condition and all 0ther obstruction which may hinder the progress of
work and or methods as initially planned. If condition remains the same, a preparation of
site such as laying of steel plates and other ground, soil or slab reinforcement shall be put
in place of Machine and on its worthiness prior to rigging works.
- Tool Box meeting or gang talks must be conducted to discuss, instruct and orient riggers,
and other operatives matters pertaining to risk assessment, safety at work, safety rules
and
policies and instructional on work methods and procedures.
- If all matter relative to the works have been clearly discussed and disseminated, works
shall now be started immediately.

ESSENTIAL REMINDERS WHILE PREPARING FOR THE JOB OR WORKS:


- Soon as the manpower and rigging equipment have arrived at site, coordination must be
made by all project party concerned for proper disposition. works to be started. All must
be under the control of the Rigging company supervisor in coordination with the client.
Soon as rigging group is properly positioned, to start to strip and unload the Chiller from
container.
- Stripped off Lifting and rigged in of Chiller machine, until completion.
- Clean area, secure-off all tools, equipment and personnel and demobilize from the site
- WORKS COMPLETED.
