LO3 Develop a motivational strategy to optimize organizational performance.
Vocational scenario
Following on from your research on leadership and management in action, in your role
as Trainee Executive Search Consultant taking part in the onboard training, you have
been requested to produce a comprehensive motivational and performance
management strategy to a potential client (select an appropriate organization as your

client).
1. Motivational strategy:
Brief introduction on different motivational theories (including content and
process theories) and discuss key impacts of motivation on organizational
performance.
Produce a detailed and comprehensive motivational strategy for the chosen
organization that effectively address all variables of motivation to enhance
organizational performance. To be more specific:
o The motivational strategy should consider both intrinsic and extrinsic
motivation alongside social, cultural and organizational variables. The
motivational strategy should be supported with appropriate
literature.
o It should be clear how the motivational strategy supports the
achievement of organizational objectives.
o In the strategy, ensure that the link between the strategy and
enhanced organizational performance is evident in relation to the
chosen business.
2. Performance management for continuous improvement:
Explain the concept of performance management and discuss different
performance management approaches with specific examples.

Assess different leadership and management approaches including their role
in managing performance for continuous improvement. Applications to
various business situations should be provided (one of the applications must
be made for the chosen company).
Make recommendations for the chosen company to improve performance
management that will ensure continuous improvement.
